I made this one for a buddy I know named Allen. Toyed with the idea of calling it big Al. Guess he didn't like that idea. Still looking for a name for this one.
HHB ironwood 68" n-n, 55 lbs.@ 27" I had it to 28" on tree. Broad band water snake skins I got from Clint. Thanks buddy everyone really likes them. Al wanted a arrow shelf so he got one. Handle and tip overlays Black Walnut and Mulberry which blend in with the skins great. Both Al and I like a naked handle so he got that to. Instead of ending skins on back of bow straight or wrapped I decided to just lightly rasp the ends giving them a distress look, not sure how good it shows up on pictures but I really like it. This is a very sweet shooter and quit as a mouse even without the muskrat string silencers. 8 strands of fast flight. Airbrushed the belly and gave bow 6 coats of tru oil, probably get a couple more coats yet. Thanks for looking I should have got full draw picture with Allen, my draw is about 2" short but the bend looks great on Allen.

Great job bjrogg! I really like how you distressed the skins at the handle. It looks really good! Cheers- Brendan

Thanks Stick Bender, keep learning a few more tricks every time.
Thanks Selfbow joe, I really appreciate the kind words.
Thanks dane lund, they really are beautiful skins and actually look better than the pictures.
Thanks penderbender, I like a naked handle and keep trying to find a new way to end the skins, I really like the way this looks at least with these skins.

Nice looking stick Bj, looking good

Thanks Paul, I did get a bow out of that Elm stave you gifted me. I should have done better with that nice stave, but I have a lot to learn yet about Elm. I do like it but much different than HHB. I plan on harvesting some in a few weeks.
Thanks Bubby much appreciated

skins are great but I like even more the belly

Thanks GilsGlis, I can see it's gonna be a challenge to come up with something different every time. I guess even if two were the same they'd still be different.

BJ! Superb job brother. Everything looks really sweet and like Stick Bender said, they keep getting better. I particularly like the way the handle wood matches the skins. :OK
-
Thanks upstate, I really appreciate it. I like the way the Mulberry and black walnut really go with the skins to. I guess I didn't get any good pictures of tip overlays, but they are black walnut over top of Mulberry.

I really like the profiles! nice work!

BJ,
Nice bow! I ain't much at making them yet - names is something I am better at. That looks like Hornbow Snake to me. Slightly more appropriate than Horny Snake👹😀!

Thanks Will B and Simson, it really is all about the curves and the profiles. The rest is just to make it pretty.
Thanks Hawkdancer, I'll run those names by Allen. Who knows maybe Big Al will grow on him.lol.

Wow I like the airbrush on the belly! Nice that it blends in with the natural wood color!
-
Thanks Leonwood, but I'm pretty sure your black locust bow would beat my HHB in a bow of the month vote. You do real nice work. I'm glad you like it though, I'm sure the airbrushed belly isn't for everyone but I do like it.

Thanks again for your compliment! But you did a great job on the airbrush. It's easy to get carired away and overdo it with wild designs and colours. You kept it nice and clean so it complements the bow!
-
Very nice bow. I like the reflex. Arvin

Thanks Arvin, guy and gals. There are a lot of beautiful bows over in the BOM section just waiting for someone to vote for them. They all deserve a good look.
