Made my 1st yew bow, left all the natural deflex in it due to a 3 1/2" crack that formed after I stripped the bark off. Filled full of superglue and let it set for a few months thinking it wasn't worth fooling with. So finally decided to take a stab at it. So here's what I came up with
58" ntn
52#@26"
2" of natural deflex
I used yew heart wood for the tip overlays
Some leather Bryce sent me that matched the heart wood descent
Dyna 97 8 strand with mink silencers
Money shot will come later when I get me a photographer

Nice one Gut. :OK

Really nice work. Love the handle wrap!

I really like the effect you got with that knot. It's almost holographic. Nice
-
Great job! It turned out really nice.

Right on Paul! Way to pull it out of the scrap heap buddy
-
Beautiful bow in all aspects, not to sure on the yew over lays, yew is pretty soft, but it sure looks nice.

Really nice bow you made! While I'm sure you would have preferred to take the deflex out, the natural deflex must make it a real nice shooter. I'll definitely tune in for the full draw picture.

I'll second that.I'm sure it shoots sweet along with a very nice look being made of yew and your additions to it.
-
That's awesome. Very nicely done.

Nice, tips look cool!
-
Very nice. I don't know about the tip overlays though. They look good but I have had issues with plain sawn overlays shearing off along the grain, this was on recurves though
-
Good looking bow. You will have to keep us all posted as to how the tip overlays hold up.
-
Thanks for all the compliments. I've shot this bow upwards of 200 times. It's super smooth and shoots hard. The overlays are holding up just fine. I padded my loops extra heavy to help out on the soft heart wood overlays
-
Very nice looking bow
-
Love the FD pic. Yew is an awesome wood and you did it justice indeed.
-
Nice job! You did that yew wood justice. I like the overlays, I'll have to try that some time.
-
Very nice yew bow
-
Very nice bow Paul
-
You did a great job on your first yew bow Paul. I don't think that crack will cause any issues. I hope you submit it for bow of the month.
-
edit: wopps, missed the album link in the first post..
