Well, it's the preview for the video anyways I got the whole thing on video and will release the full version of the video August 1st! (takes time to edit out a whole video). Got it done with an all cane atlatl dart setup, replaceable foreshafts, and of course stone points. If you're a subscriber to the magazine, you will certainly read all about it in the future as well.

Congrats Ryan on the hog kill.I'll be reading about it soon.
-
thanks very much guys, don't forget to click the video link!
-
The first link didn't work for me but the YouTube video did.

Good hunt! Plenty of ham, chops and sausage! Off to the practice range! What technique do you use to straighten your darts and keep them straight. We don't have a humidity problem here, but I find my darts develop bends and curves where there shouldn't be any! Again congratulations on the hunt

Congratulations Ryan. That is just to cool and to get it on video yet. Can't wait to see the edited version. Should be a great article for PA Magazine too. Really glad to see some Atlatl hunting here. (AT)

thanks much guys. hawk dancer, I use heat to straighten but I am using big rivercane so it stays pretty straight once I put it there.
-
Congratulations Ryan! I'll be looking forward to see the edited version.
-
Great video Ryan, glad to see ya post something
-
thanks, I am trying to make a comeback on the forum. Life got in the way for a while, but I never really felt like I left since I still had my writings. Sometimes just the act of logging back in and trying your passwords is enough to say "ahh maybe tomorrow"

Nice clip of the video, looks like a very good hunt. :)

I have friends that go hog hunting in Texas every year with long bows. For the last few years they've been having to shoot at these pigs at night. They are just plain too spooky for a daytime hunt. This is from a stand and a feeder of course.
-
Congratulations on the kill! Looking forward to the entire video.

thanks again guys. Beadman, yeah feeder hunting is tough with smart pigs. I truly don't care much for feeder hunting, not only is the sitting boring for me, but also for the reason you stated. Pigs are just plain made to spot and stalk.

Great accomplishment !!! :OK
1 august is too far ;D

LOL Are you two getting together. For some skull dugery ? ???
Glis seems like the real deal.
Ryan not sure you remember me but (Sware to God) I was driving
from Pheonix back home yesterday with my boy and I was giving him some
of my better tales about PA. I said--- Mullet and Bone Pile and I were
cooking and cocktailing , making excuses for ourselves for not being
totally buff. You being a fit young whippersnapper, shouted .
" I want to kill my self" In jest off course. Good to see you doing awesome stuff.
No mention about those two and the Close Talker.

haha, I remember the occasion well, but not my words... but I don't doubt it. I was cocktailing as well so any of which is possible.
-
is the serrated head in the video stone or steel?
-
GlisGlis- Stone. I can't fathom using steel on such a primitive weapon
-
cool video Ryan .No shortage of piney rooters down here.See ya later

I agree with you
it' s only that the point at 0:50 looks so flat and shiny when you move it I tough it was metal
... but hey ! dont mind me. Go on mounting the final movie !!! :OK

I went back and watched that part too and saw what you meant. It was heat treated coral so it definitely has some sheen to it in the sunlight. I actually also put the wrong point-hafting footage on the trailer.. but the one in the full video is pretty much the same, just a little bigger.

Nice.
