Title: Can you identify this rock?
Post by: Huntrick64 on July 11, 2017, 04:42:42 pm
I found this with a bunch of Burlington gravel.  There is no difference in texture between the colors.  Breaks conchoidal.  This was the only piece around.

I forgot to add, my guess is some kind of camo Reeds.

OK, big disappointment!  I broke that rock last night and the dark is just a discoloration on the outside.  It is white inside and not very good quality.  I threw it in the gravel pile.  Had it been that color all the way through, I probably would have cooked it to see if it improved.  So end result, discolored poor quality burlington.

Not so much. You learned a good deal about patina and what the natives liked or didn't.
