Title: Berry producing tree ID please.
Post by: lebhuntfish on August 07, 2017, 11:00:45 am
Not much to say but I just don't know what this is.  Ive tried looking it up online but I haven't found an exact match.  I guess I would like to know if these are edible as well.  Thanks!

Cut one of the fruit crossways, see if it has a core like an apple. Looks like a Crab to me too.

Got to agree with Tac and DC.  It does take a bunch of them to make jelly, and or liqueur!  The other option is chokecherry, but I don' think so, Fruit isn't dark enough.

If you can find a bow sized piece it makes a good bow.

I used to have a crab apple tree. I bit one when dared by my dad. Took me awhile to trust him after that. It is so bitter, bugs wont eat it. I always wanted to pick them, juice them, and use them as a bug repelant on the garden.

Crab apple makes the most beautiful jelly/jam. Loads of pectin too so it will set other fruits that won't set by themselves and masses of sugar. Yours is some sort of ornamental version.
