Title: 2017 Trail camera pictures
Post by: lebhuntfish on August 24, 2017, 12:45:22 am
Not exactly sure if this is where I need to post this.  If its not please feel free to move it to the proper place.

I wanted to start this post for everyone to post their trail cam pictures.  I know its not all that primitive but I think several of us use them.  Besides,  I always like to look at pictures of deer!

So I'll start by posting these from my camera that is in my back lot.  If you can guess, I was quite surprised when I started flipping through the pics!

Nice buck Patrick, everyone enjoys looking at those. I had some really nice ones around a couple weeks before Elm Hall. I've had to do a quite a bit of work on my property taking out dead trees, improving my lane and fixing wash outs from the huge rains we got this spring. All the activities seem to have changed the Bucks patterns. Still plenty of does and fawns. I'm almost done now so hopefully the bucks will return and I can get some pictures. Right now the eating is pretty good for them. They love the beans right now, especially the edible beans. There just like green beans from the garden. Lots of apples, pears, clover and sugar beets. Pertty soon the beans will be to ripe for them and they will start hitting the corn. We got the smorgasbord out for them. Time for them to put on that layer of fat to make it through the winter.

Thanks guy's,  that camera was only there for 2 days.  I couldn't wait to check it, its only about a hundred yards behind my house.  When I pulled the card it had 267 pictures on it.  Now I did have some coons and a couple of squirrels and a rabbit. Oh and a dove on my mineral block. But mostly deer! I just pulled it again with it being there for just 24 hours. It has 133 pics on it this time. Going to check them out now.  Got to go get some more corn today though, its all but gone!

Nice buck Pat.Handsome devil!!!!The others too.I used a mineral block long ago once.Eventually the deer and weather eroded it.Then I found the deer pawed and dug a hole close to 2' feet deep 3' around at least to get the mineral soaked into the ground. The hole was deep enough to possibly break a front wheel spindle on the tractor anyway. If I do it again I put the block in a pan.

Well, I went through all of the pictures from the camera.  Pretty much more pics of the big 9 and the rest of the group of does and the younger buck.  But I have about 6 coon coming in also,  so I set out a couple traps for them.  I hope to catch the little theives!

Your right Clint,  Ive had pics with just coons in them.  The most at one time was 7. I picked one up today.  Im going to set it tomorrow,  I think I know where they are hidding out. Ive gotten rid of 5 of them this summer so far.

These are only a very small few of my pictures.  Im getting about 150 a day with about 20 to 30 without deer in them.

Very nice Bucks Patrick, hopefully you get them to come out in the day light. If you have access to pears the deer love em. I have a few people that like me picking up their windfalls. The wasps and bees love them to, so people like me picking them up. I usually pick them in the evening when it's Cool and the wasp are slower and to full to fly. Oh that's right it probably never gets that cold in Mo. I give each pear a little roll to get wasp off before I pick them up.

No BJ, it gets plenty cold in Missouri!
Yeah I had pears on a tree here at the house, they are all gone, and I didn't get a single one.  Neighbor has a really nice apple tree,  their ain't an apple on the bottom half or the ground.

I did see some deer this morning about 615. I got a couple of pictures of them on my phone that I took through my binos.  Younger buck and a nice doe.  He is bigger than I thought at first.  Ill try to post them later.

Yowza!!!!Nice pics!!!Pat those are nice animals.Sure hope they stick around for ya.They should.
It's fun to observe animals feeding in the daytime off of feeders. The coon/turkey/and deer all get their fair share.A few sqabbles once in a while too.

Thanks Ed!
I really enjoy looking through the pics from the camera.  I love watching the babies come in and feed with their momma's. Ive seen more fawns this year than I have ever seen before.  Infact when we got home today around 3 there was a fawn at my feed site all by its self.
I pulled the card after it left and I has 283 pictures on it! Thats just 24 hours!
Oh and by the way,  that big 11pt has shed his velvet as will! Its getting closer!

I don't have anything near as big as Patrick posted.  That's OK with me.  We have plenty of does around.  The big boys will come for a visit in about a month.  The dates and times aren't correct on some of the pictures.

The little buck closest to the camera has a broken leg that looks to be healed up.  He can move the shoulder joint but that's about it.  He walked across our back yard a few weeks back.  I've always heard that if a buck has an injury to one side of his body that the opposite side antler will be deformed.  This buck has a funky antler on the same side as the injury.

I really like your setup though! Looks like you got one making a scrape as well.   :-D!

Wowzers!!!! those are some beautiful deer guys..We don't get very many huge racks like that up here in the mountains. My pics are set up at scrapes and fallen acorns and such. No baiting is allowed here. Here is some of my pics from this year and last. The bucks from 2016 I found both of their sheds in Feb. so I know they made it through the orange army...lol. They don't usually show up until mid October though. If that smaller 8 shows up before that im gonna put him in the freezer first.[i(https://i.imgur.com/2UUeBkd.jpg)mg][/img]

Good pictures fellas....I personally don't use any trail cameras but can appreciate the pictures you guys get.Sure hope a shot developes for you guys.Season opens October 1 here.Goals for this year are to peg a doe or yearling or both very early then wait on a nice buck. The heavy rut period usually is on the tail end of October and early November here. The changes in weather make the deer here move different at different times and lots of times different areas too.I usually see many does around which is always a good thing. It only takes a buck about 2 minutes to make a scrape but when I see dozens of them around I know I've got a few.
Good luck this year with these self bows.

I plant a food plot about 75 yards downhill from the back of my house, it is in a small opening in the woods that is only 60X90 ft square. The first few years I had a lush plot, then came an explosion in the deer population, now they hit the plot as soon as the seed comes up and literally pull the oats and wheat up roots and all and turn my plot into bare ground in a month or so.

Here is my plot 3 years ago, the trail cam date is incorrect.

A typical shot from this year, covered up with deer and the growth getting might sparse, as of today the plot is bare ground.

There would be no hunting involved with these deer, more like grocery shopping so I haven't brought myself to thinning the herd yet.  The woods on lower end of the plot drops off into what I call the "Grand Canyon", if I shot a deer that made it to the drop off I would have a serious problem getting it out. It is too steep and rough to even get a 4 wheeler out of.

Well the rain last week played hick with my trail cam.  Got a few good pictures anyway.
One of the eights looks to be a nine.  The other nice eight (3yr old) and small eight (2 yr old) are back.  Some does and the coons found the corn.  More activity during the day but the bucks seam to be still hanging out together some.
The small scrape I found last week was freshened up after all the rain.
Nothing was moving Saturday evening, no squirrels, birds nothing.  Fish didn't even bite. Wish those time wouldn't hit on my weekends off.
But in about two weeks I'm going to be out there after them every day for a week. might get lucky then.
Here's a few till next time.

I am jealous of all the buck pictures posted here. I have never seen in person bucks like have been posted here. I hunt public land only, and the population is solid as a rock, but most of the bucks I see are small 6-8 pts without much mass or spread. I don't hunt for antlers, but I'd sure not pass on a nice one.

Got an interesting assortment of pictures this week.  I do not like the new stealth cam that I am using.  The picture quality is not very good and the trigger speed is slow.  I get a lot of butt pictures.  That would be good if I had it set up at the beach   ;D   We have a lot of predators.  I got a bobcat, 3 coyotes, and a fox in a 5 day stretch.

My first trail cam was a Stealth, I had the same complaints, it finally got where it wouldn't trigger unless something was a foot or so from it and I bought a Browning. Daylight and dark compared to the Stealth, fast trigger up to about 30 yards or more and great picture quality.

I am too old school to use it where I hunt but I enjoy keeping track of the mostly nocturnal critters in my yard and in the woods around my house. My front yard may have 6 or more deer in eating acorns and my shrubs after dark. Without the cam I never would have known about their nocturnal maruding.

Man Clint,  that 8 point is a giant!
My camera has been getting mostly does and a young 6 point but I checked it the other day and there was a big 8 that showed back up.  Pretty sure its the same buck from early season that I posted pictures of earlier on.

Congrats on tagging out Clint! I still have 3 more tags,  one of wich I hope to fill with my cap and ball the last part of this month.  Good luck all,  and be safe out there!

Nice pictures Clint. I have two nice ones that survived the season I'm hoping to find sheds from to. I tried emailing myself my pictures to my phone but Microsoft detected p_#+ material and shut my computer down. I guess that naked buck must have been to much for them. I got my computer working again but have been afraid to try sending pictures again. I really don't like computers and I think they know it.
