Title: a lesson in patience
Post by: bubby on September 13, 2017, 11:05:49 pm
this bow had a long, long journey to become a bow. lets just say i have been working on it off and on for 2 years :P, boo, black walnut and maple trilam,
osage powerlam and mahogany handle. 68" ttt and about 45#@29 and shoots super smooth.bison tips with bobcat silencers on a d97 string 10 strand.
i stained the boo with dark walnut which is not very dark, then i applied several coats of ebony at the nodes for the fade. hope ya like it(https://i.imgur.com/PVTxR0r.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/5JvfVcj.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/umoPyFt.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/6RwmGH5.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/m3REfsv.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/OqJ0hIw.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/bdf6PF0.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/gkitouF.jpg)

I like it. One of my favorite profiles. I love how they shoot. If I were to offer any helpful criticism, I'd say the bottom limb looks to be flexing less than the top..... unless you are canting it in the full draw picture... if so, I respectfully withdraw my assessment.... canting often skews things.

What's not to like about that! The tiller and profiles leave nothing to be desired.

Thanks for all the comments guys i appreciate it. Squirrel it is canted some, and it has about 3/16" pos tiller, i usually tiller them even but this one fought that to the end.

Wow Bub, gorgeous.   (A)  Love those tip underlays, and the way you wrapped the maple belly up the grip like those glass boys do it.  ::) ;)
No doubt, patience pays off

Yup walnut underlays Ed, the pita was all the extra work, prebending them , they were a bear to get the proper pressure on plus the crap i will get cause they do look like a fglass bow. Just wanted to try something differant. I also had to grind off the belly lam twice on it so i had to do them 3 times😲
Thanks bill😉

I see then it was a guessing game as to how thick the laminations were to be before glue up.Still nice work though getting a smoooooth shooter.

Bubby, this bow shows the craftsmanship you have in your veins. Very nice laminated bow you built. I really like those walnut tip underlays. I just wish you lived closer to KY I would drive over just to shoot that bow. Good ole south-paw!!!!
