Hello guys and gals. I had a chance to finish up another bow for a friend. It is a 64" osage bow. It is 50#@28". It had a slight natural deflex to the limbs which I kept as part of the design and used direct heat to flip the tips on her. I finished the back with sturgeon skins and did a turquois paint job for the transition where the sturgeon skins ended. I also painted the sides and the remainder of the tips in midnight black. I also did a wrap on upper limb in black and turquois. I did a antler inlay for strike plate to match the bone plates on the sturgeon skins. I also did horn tip overlays and finished her off with a black handle/black trim to go around the antler strike plate to keep her quiet when releasing a arrow. I also like the way the black contrasted with the antler inlay. The bow draws super smooth and shoots great.I took the pictures with a quiver I made from a bear I harvested with my bow a few years ago. The arrows are wild holly bush shoots and coral tips. Very very nice. I have been wanting to back a bow with sturgeon skins, since snake skins are verboten in Utah. Where did you get yours? I have been having trouble finding them.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I love the magazine and this forum. There is so many talented bowyers on here it makes us all kick it up a notch and try harder to create better and better work. I just was given permission to harvest a acre of osage so I am pumped about having me and better material for future builds.

Thx Hawkdancer, For me it is a lot easier to make them for myself. I always critique and over thin the bows I make for others. Its hard to let them go when you talk to yourself saying I should of done this an I could of done that better...

Beauty bow, tiller is very nice. Sturgeon has to be the coolest backing out there

Very nice stick! I love all of the contrast. But what got me the most was wondering you said it had a very smooth draw! Do you have the stats for it?

Congrats on the win with your beautiful well made bow with those skins as an added nice touch.

lebhuntfish, The bows length is 64" and is 50#@28". The limbs are 1 3/4" at fades and 1 1/2" mid limb. at the last 7" of lf limb they taper to 1". I left the deflex In the limbs and then flipped the tips which both also help with a smoother draw and not losing speed.
