I had the chance to get some leg sinew a while back but was in a hurry and didn't clean it up very well. After drying it was looking kinda greasy and dirty. Seemed like drying squeezed out some of the oils/fat. I figures I would wash it in real hot water with dawn soap and then got side tracked for about an hour after putting it in. I came back and started cleaning it up and realized the sheath and fat would all come off with a little effort and ended up with some real clean sinew that should be easier to tear down when I do.

Thanks. I'll try that

Cool, thanks for the tip. Any little trick helps when it comes to shredding sinew

Haven't used the stuff I did this with yet but it looks real good. I think I will hit it with a wire brush next time instead of my thumbnails and pliers for pulling off the slimy stuff.
HD better hit that trading post bud!

I clean and scrape all the slime off the sinew before I dry it. If there are any big greasy looking spots near where it splits I take a utility knife and slice that spot off. I wipe the rest down with a rag.
