Since you already started a MoJam thread, I 'm happy to inform everyone that they just put a MOJAM Facebook page up yesterday so that everyone can keep up with what's happening for the 20th anniversary this year.  It's officially July 19-21, but most of us come early and stay late.  :)     :BB

I've talked to Bob and we should do a white wood/yellow wood shoot off part 2! Thats what got mojam started in the first place.

Maybe a pair shoot matching a first timer with an "old guy/gal", against other like pairs?  Or an apple shoot?
How does one get to the range off I-70?  I know where that is >:D!  Hope to see ya'all in July!

I love this idea Patrick!!! It would be interesting to see how bows have evolved, performance wise, over the last twenty years.  Plus, it would a lot of fun to compete in.
I would volunteer to help be a part of organizing this if others show interest.  I can bring a chronograph and scales.

I hope Badger will chime in. Bob said he was the one that wrote out the rulles for the first mojam.  I would love to see how much 20 years has change wooden bows by using the same set of rulles.

Believe it or not Paul, there were a set of rules that were followed.  ;)  I had to go back and reread the "turtle bow" chapter in TBB4 to remember how they went.  I think some of the rules may need to be changed a bit to get more accurate, and fair results.

Scrape, scrape, bend, bend, tiller, repeat - maybe the hickory stave I got from Kyle will be a real bow by then!  And it ain't too darn hot!  Don't think I can work fast enough for a scratch bow challenge!  Maybe an old slow first bow challenge!

Great thing about mojam is no reg/camp $$$ fees.
Tough thing about mojam is there's limited electricity. MoJam organizers and city of Marshal are gonna need to address this.
Be there by Wed.
Look forward to meeting you.

Got to get the tin tipi rigged up to haul the generator, and make the muffler box!  I think CJKopec is also bringing a horse tin tipi, if she and Cody can make!  Still learning all the tricks of our rig!  Like how to pull out the canopy!  May just bring the pop-up shade.

Title: Re: MoJam?
Post by: mobow on March 24, 2018, 04:22:37 pm
This is what Steve has written to post and ask for recommendations.  It will be great.

1st annual Mojam Broadhead Flight Shoot

In keeping with the spirit of Mojam we have decided to organize a flight shoot that will hopefully become an annual event and a tradition at many of the other primitive venues happening around the country. The winner of this event will be declared the official Primitive Broadhead World Champion.

We will have 2 classes, laminated wood bows and self bows. All bows will shoot at 10 grains of arrow weight per pound of draw weight so there will be no weight classes.

The longest arrows allowed will be 28” from the bottom of the nock to the back of the broadhead.
All arrows must have at least 3each 4” fletches minimum 1/2” high. The broadhead must be no shorter than 1 1/4” and must not fit through a 7/8” id ring.

All bows and arrows must be registered, inspected and weighed and the arrows must be numbered.
There will be a 10 grain tolerance on minimum arrow weights no limits on maximum arrow weights.
We will have no restriction on string materials for the bows. No elevated rests allowed on bows.

The field will be laid out using 100 yard contractors tapes down each side of the field with stakes placed at 5 yard increments past the 150 marker out to 250 yards. The field will be 50 yards wide if space allows.

In keeping with the spirit of Mojam we also hope to collect important data here and award certificates for various accomplishments. At the registration desk your bow will be weighed and inspected. The information gathered will be transferred to a spreadsheet for future comparisons.
Example: John Smith 50# osage , D/R design, 2” reflex, 20 oz, 64” NN, 178 yards.

World record status will only be given to one bow with no regard to class but certicicates or trophies if available will be awarded for many accomplishments in many classes. Such as longest recurve, straight bow, English long bow, etc. I also favor certificates for any bows reaching 200, 190 and 180 yards.

The field will be open all day for qualifying and practice and data gathering. This will be less formal and broadheads will not be required. But bows and arrows will still be weighed and measured.

The official shooting line will be opened up for 2 hours each day of the shoot, the last day it will be in the morning. This will be for our Jamboree Flight Organization so rules we be carefully adhered to.

I will recommend a .50 cent charge per arrow shot with a 3 arrow minimum. At the official shoot it will be a 6 arrow max round with each bow, No limit on how many bows can be shot. Some of the money will go toward putting together the needed supplies for the flight station and anything in excess would go back to Mojam.

Hopefully at this Mojam we can train several others to officiate flight shoots at other venues where space allows and put together a flight station with scales, forms and equipment that can be shipped anywhere in the country as needed. We will be looking for volunteers and will also possibly be needing arrows of various weights so if you can bring a few extra to loan to the shoot it would be great.

I’m planning to be there from Wednesday through Sunday. If you all would like I can bring my range finder and chronograph along. The range finder is a sig Sauer kilo 2000, so a bit overkill but very accurate. The chronograph is a Caldwell g2. I may bring them anyway even if they don’t get used.

One thing that I was thinking that would be fun to do is along the lines of how the show ‘Forged in fire’
is done. I think along the lines of give a bow style to create and in a draw weight range. Giving time limits to each part of the build.for the stages, I’m thinking. 1- Hunt down and acquire/buy a stave from a vender or grab one from your stash you brought that would be suitable. (Whoever hasn’t obtained a stave by the one limit is out) 2- get the stave roughed out and tillered. (After the time limit they will be inspected for design in the proper style and safety). 3- last step is to finish the bow and tweak the tiller if need be, essentially just getting the handle and tips shaped out, everything to make it shoot well and look as good as the time limit allows. Then they are shot and tested to see whoes is fastest and most comfortable to shoot as the coarse winning criteria. And as bows are to similar you get into more fine criteria to choose the winner.
The hard part would be, what’s the prize? And who are the judges? And what time frames would we go with?
I think it would be fun to do. And might be worth the effort of deciding this stuff if anyone else feels it would be worth doing. I think it could be set up to be done in a day. Something along the lines of: 45 min to pick a stave, 4 hours to go from stave to tillered, and 2 hours for tweaking tiller and finishing.
Just like on the show, your not expected to make a show peice or a perforce tiller. Just meet the criteria and shoot. But the better you do the more likely to win.

What do you all think? Worth the time or no?

Kyle

I think it is a cool idea but I would skip the stages. Just give until say 4 pm to get out the best bow they can. If they happen to start late the 4pm is still the time limit.

I will bring my Chrono and range finder(Nikon) - assuming I can find the range!  Still need directions off I-70!  What other happenings are going on?  Pot lucks, newcomers parties, strap hanger doin's, traders, bull sessions, etc?

I like that idea better of having them done by a certain time of the day as opposed to to time frames.
I couldn’t really help you with the directions. I usually have to use the gps to get in the area, then search and try to remember. From a certain pizza place I can get there easy. I just find the pizza place.

Look forward to meeting ya!

Well, so far the hickory bow blank decided that it would prefer to be kindling rather than achieve a more exacted status. One down, one to go. Maybe this is the one, he thinks hopefully..as he rumages through the bottom shelf of the island of misfit staves.

The osage elb stave is no longer has a dog leg, it survived a heat gun and c-clamp session.

Hoping to get my hickory stave shooting by then - trying to keep from going past target weight, and keep (get) a decent tiller, oh, yeah, and remember to breathe!  I think I will be able to get the next peg on the tiller tree tomorrow and get closer to Brace height.  I would like to be able to take it to JW's Turkey Camp next month.  Have to get some broad heads set up for the hunt and the flight shoot, as well!

Cahl and I are still hoping to make it. Not sure if I’m hauling the the trailer or not yet. I was just in MO (about 20 miles from where the festivities are held) and being it’s a 1350 mile round trip haul at 7mpg we may rent a little roller skate of a car and tent it. But who knows, I may get a wild streak and just do haul it down there.  Cahl is all for tent camping. I told him if it wasn’t in the 90’s we could tent it.

We will probably be the ones rollin’ in with staves strapped to the top of a Yugo.

I hope its in the 90's! Its usually around or over a hundred. Plus seing staves straped on a car is nothing.  I seen one straped on a harley one year!

Getting close is right,  as usual I have a lot to finish up!

Follow them wild streaks!  Makes life interesting!  I may wind up sticking the generator in the back of the suv and stashing the good stuff in the camper!  Getting anxious!  It's real close to 1300 miles round trip for me as well!  On their other hand, Badger is coming out of California!  Easy haul!

LOL I need to correct my statement...

I'll be the one with the staves and kiddie swimming pool strapped to the top of the Yugo.

I might just follow the wild side then. If I have any issues on the road at least I'll have air and a place to sleep ;)

I made the trip in my truck the end of March and was coming home on Easter Sunday thru all that ice when my oil pressure started bouncing all over the place. I was on a state highway with no mile markers. That was when I decided I was getting a little "less adventurous". We made it just fine. Hubby thinks that it had been so long since I really drove my truck any distance that I heated the engine and pushed the sludge into the filter and pressure sensor. I still need to switch that sensor out. I have replaced it 3 times already. But still, not an easy feeling on a holiday. I'll have to use the other truck to haul the trailer. It is only used for hauling since it has the big block and we take out a small bank loan to fill the tank. ;) But it's worth it to not hear the engine in my daily truck work so hard. The first time I hauled with it I was pushing 80mph at the end of the on ramp. ;) Ooops. John told me to get my foot off the pedal. I found out why when I pulled up to the gas pump. But she's got power....

Title: Re: MoJam?
Post by: Badger on May 02, 2018, 03:19:10 pm
We are going to have a tiller tree set up over by the Broadhead flight line. Maybe someone who has a bow roughed out could bring it over to the shooting line and we could give a demonstration of not set tillering while he tillers out his bow. Preferable not floor tillered and where close to finished weight. And maybe a demonstration of Krewsons tillering gizmo. So it would need to be a pretty flat stave or laminated bow.

It sounds as there are going to be many activities this year.  All of these different tests. Will we find out if it is the wood or the profile, or the  bowyer or the style.  I love performance tests.  There usually are some real surprises. It will be interesting to see if attitudes and findings are the same as 20 years ago.  This one should be great.

Maybe I can drag a cool spell down from Colorado with me - maybe 85 instead of 95! >:D >:D Lol!  Currently plan to drag the tin tipi, fun things like a/c, and the bathroom inside, plenty of room in bunk, running water, refrigerator!  Managed to get to Turkey Camp and back as a trial run, seemed like everything worked!  Sort of!  Have to learn how to operate the side awning better.

I have been watching for recipes to cook for supper a couple nights.  I want to help make all the Michaganders and out of staters (and the regulars too!) as welcome as possible.  As long as there is deer meat on the smoker everybody will be welcome to come eat.  Maybe that will help people forget about the heat!    ;D

I was outside for work all morning and this ol fat boy is not used to the heat yet.  I will be by the time MoJam starts though.

Dave, not really trouble.  I just see it becoming less organized and more participant lead.  It has been moving in that direction for several years.  I think it works great but may not be appealing to some.  Also really did not expect Mojam to see year two so each additional year is a bit of a surprise. Keith

Keith I really like the progression I've seen at MOJAM the last several years. I personally enjoy the structure and maybe even the lack thereof. The club always does a bang up job. I would like to thank all involved for a great event every year. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Keith you know I will do what ever I can to help the week  of mojam.  I also like the way things are going at mojam with it being more participant lead, but if we need to have more structure to the event thats understandable and I would be willing to help with that as well.

I will do another tool sharpening demonstration again if you need me to.  I know the last couple of years I haven't and I probably should have.  What ever you need Keith, after all you done to help me out last year,  I'm at your disposal my friend....

Sounds like a lot of good eating going on!

I've seen "cool" temp MOJAMs in the past. Not many but it has happened...  ::)

While over the years it's gotten more "Free Range" and participant lead it would not have happened, or continue to happen, without the work of the Club. And for that we owe them a big THANK YOU.  :OK

Well im glad to hear that mojam isnt in trouble.  I can remember a few years witha man on a microphone speaking, but never a whole lot of structure. Thankfully we have always had the old trusty dry erase board! Lol
Now that my kids are older and dont require as much of my attention i can be there for actual demos if you want to try and bring it back. You know im up for whatever you want or need.

Yep.  You always gotta watch who you hand a microphone to.   Last year was the first year that we did not follow a demo schedule of some sort.  It seemed to work with the same type of stuff being demonstrated anyway.  I am thinking this year to use the white board as a request board and if someone is around that knows how to do it they can schedule themselves to demo when they want to.

Sounds good Jon,  I just know I hate trying to help a new person with giant clamp compression scars on their stave, and stress fractures from bending wood that wasn't hot all the way through.  I think it would be good to teach as a team.  Maybe not on a schedule but when ever there is bending thats needed we can gather all who would be interested.

Patrick - that's a wonderful weather forecast you posted. "from your lips (or in this case, a weather forecaster) to God's ears".

Like others, I can only recall a couple of MoJAMs that were like that forecast shows. There was one that was brisk enough overnight that folks were sleeping under blankets and sleeping bags. Long sleeves everywhere that a.m. well, long sleeves for those who had the foresight to bring one along. That was the year I headed to Wally World and bought a denim jacket off the sale rack for 10 bucks. Still use it and bring it hoping to wear it again, hmm, maybe I should leave it home this year.

As a newbie, I'd like to see as many demos as practical, but some sort of schedule will help!  Team teaching and hands on are the best methods of teaching/learning.

Stay hydrated my friend! Remember if you want a cold one it has to have blue mountains!

I think working out in the heat on everyones AC systems has me about ready for mojam.  Weather man said that today want going to have a heat advisory.  It didn't,  only got to 94 and the heat index was 103, I thought it was pretty nice out! Definitely cooler that the last 5 days of heat indexes of 110 to 113. So I think I'm ready! Cant wait,  bows are piling up around here!

Scott,  I would love to break a little rock with you this year if you wouldn't mind?

Andy I really would love to but that's right about our wheat harvest time and also when my cousin comes back home from California. I'm really thinking that get together you guys have in March. Forget the name right now. I was planning for it this past March but my grandson had his Cub Scout pine derby race. I just couldn't miss it. Hopefully next year.

We got 2 seasons out here too, winter and August, but we ain't real sure about August!  This is a bit of a different year, though. 60-70 this week, 90s next week.  The 600-800 mile jaunts sort of hinder making it to many new events, especially when they conflict with established schedules and traditions,
Not to mention things like harvest time.

It's going to be here before I now it. We are nailing down a rental car and checking out the tent this weekend. Hoping to arrive on Sunday or Monday. Someone save a shade tree for me will ya? ;)

I spoke to a few people this last week at the Compton Trad Shoot that said that have a blast at MOJAM so we are getting more and more excited. Cahl usually doesn't show any outward excitement about things but he has been working on his stave more than usual this week. I dare say he's ready for you all.

Well, the first day of summer, and it is now noon-thirty. Temperature is an unbelievable 67 degrees here in KC MO.

Can't believe it after the temperatures during the last month or so. Could this be a sign for spectacular weather at MoJAM I asked myself...then I remembered this is Mizzurah, who knows what the next hour will bring.

But at this point in time, we're groovin' on the low temps, nice breeze and a bit of rain.

Hell, we can always stow gear under the camper to make a bunk for a needy soul -long as the wind doesn't blow us away!
Jon, if you are talking about catfish and hush puppies, I'll be starting out Sunday to be there.  Getting ready to start the sourdough bread and the home brew!  Bread goes fresh baked into the freezer, home brew gets aged in the bottle!  May sneak in a bottle of blackberry mead, too!  And a sparkling water for Cahl!
Sounds like the earlier you get there the better chances you have of getting any spot!  Btw, what are the rules and regs on campfires, grills, etc?  I assume the city does mosquito control, but the mosquitos. Don't always pay attention >:D (=)!

Jon, I can provide taters for frying up.  Maybe some cole slaw too.

Mosquito control.....That's funny

Apple pie, blackberry mead and clear liquids in quart jars will take care of the mosquitoes. You won't even notice them... ;D

honestly, other than an occasional annoying mosquito getting in my tent and buzzing around my ears, I do not remember them being bad.  But I am just naturally repulsive, so biting critters do not bother me too much....

Is there such a thing as misquito management? Definitely not at mojam, they ain't terrible but a good thermacell and some citranella candles or such is always a good thing to have.

Jon I can bring another fish fryer and a pot for cooking.

Dave do I need to bring my smoker? Do you have any rabbits to go in it this year?

I'm thinking about bringing a couple whole tenderloins and putting them on the smoker.  Maybe for Wednesday? What do you all think?

I'm sure ill have a bow to finish up this year myself.  So hopefully I'll be getting some work done on it as well!

And packs a .44!  Ounce bottle!   (lol) (lol)!  Will likely bring a big bottle of clear liquid, as well Bread is baked, brew gets started tomorrow!  Of course, today was spent slaving over a. Hot oven, and making up an unfamiliar recipe keto bread for  Jacie.  Plan to get some more work done on the hickory bow as well!  Got it pulling past brace height at desired draw weight, now to make a string, and keep the tiller right! :BB (SH) :NN!  I assume "fake" fires (Propane patio fire) are acceptable, with a proper base and a shut ok valve?  It ain't really camping without a fire!  USFS allows them during fire bans.

Giff,
You're right water in daylight, lots of it, adult beverages at night!  The MOJAM ale is bubbling quite merrily, should be ready to bottle Monday or Tuesday!  What are the guidelines for the auction table items?  I'm not real good at comprehending fast moving speech from auctioneers, we usually have a slower fun pace to get everybody involved as we raise money for the wolfhound club.  Works pretty good for us.  I'm going to have to get loaded and mostly ready by Friday, 13 Jul, I'm judging earthdorgs on Sat, and have a black powder shoot on Sunday, plan to head out somewhat early on Monday, it's a 2 day haul from here at my age.  Hope to get there Tuesday afternoon.  Gettin' antsy!

You will have no problem navigating this auction. If the auctioneer is hard to understand or follow ot definitly not because hes to fast.  >:D
Any and about all items are accepted flr the auction. Common donations are bows, arrows, moonshine, jellies, jams, blankets, knappednpoints, staves, handmade items, baked goods, (talking to you paul  8) ) , coolers have been a big success as well, but they tend to get pricey quick.

Hawk,  no worries about the auction, im sure you won't have any trouble keeping up.  Just watch your gatoraid bottle at the auction.  Some how mine last year ended up full of apple pie.  Though not complaining about the pie, but I was pretty thirsty when I downed about half the bottle with one shot.

Paul,
May have to post the "pie certificate" to be picked up at the cooler!  Will send a pm re: travel plans.

Patrick,
Sounds almost like an extra "jug" of something maybe in order!  Will probablbly bottle the MOJAm ale
Tuesday.  It'll be conditioned 2 weeks, just hope it doesn't jump out of the bottle!

Right there with you brother!  Its getting harder to concentrate on work the closer it gets.  Projects keep getting added at work too.  I was going to take off next week to get ready for MoJam, but now will be working right up till MoJam starts.  I am looking forward to relaxing and visiting with everybody.

I am working on a few extra jugs of refreshments to bring too.  Hopefully we will have enough!

The tent passed its pre trip inspection today. The boy and I got it set up in record time. We have gotten a little spoiled camping in the trailer. I’m used to having everything we need already packed so we are making lists of lists to make.

Dave- Cahl asked if you were working on your chess skills.

As somebody who's never actually seen a semi-professionally made bow before, you could say that I'm rather excited to get down to MoJam. (Still trying to deal with getting this hickory bow done in this heat and humidity, but hopefully I'll get it done in these next couple of weeks.) Is there anything in particular I need to bring? Obviously the bow, tools, and camping gear should come along but I'm debating whether or not to bring a couple of Osage logs I cut back in the winter with me. Also, is there anything I need to do beforehand as far as registration is concerned?

Thanks,

Shane

soggydog- bring the osage if you want to work on it...there will be plenty of help there.  No registration needed...just sign the guest book when you can and put a stick pin in the map showing where home is... :)

Well if Cahl is up for it I wouldn't mind a game of chess. I was pretty dang good at one point but I haven't played much in a few years.

Yes,  Happy 4th of July! Hope everyone gets full of bbq and is safe with the fire crackers.
I to managed the day off,  got up way early and worked on a bow for a couple of hours.  But now its honey do time.  Cooking burgers and dogs for her work clan and hopefully getting my grass cut.  Ive been so busy that I haven't had time to get gas for my mowers.  The jug has been riding around in the back of my truck for 4 days.  But I did manage to get the 2 trees cut up that fell in my yard in the storm the other day.

Ooohh I can smell the Osage now! Its almost here!

With everything that is going on, I want to make sure that I remember to thank Keith and the club and ask if there is anything I can do to help.  Putting together my donations to the clout shoot and for the auction. Sounds like a plan bud.  The only thing I try to shoot every year is the clout shoot.  There use to be a full strut turkey on the way down the hill.  I would shoot that target on the way down but I've never even seen the rest of the course.
Heck, the only time in shot the running pig was when we done the red oak bow challenge.

Coby when you see the park look for the public pool. Where the street curves north to the pool there is a gravel drive to the south that goes down to the spot. You will see the golf course as well for a landmark.

My battery operated fans and case of batteries showed up yesterday. Now all I need to do is finish up this new website/blog I am working on and get it up and running so I can actually begin packing everything up for our trip.

I pulled up a google earth view of the area and I see exactly where you all are talking about to as far as where to go. My directions are bringing in us in from the north and it looks like possibly local back roads roads the last 2 hrs of my drive. It looks like it's bringing me in from the pool end of the area and then south to the grounds. It's all good 'll have the boy as my co pilot.

I also used my Google Fu for the local area and found the WalMart for groceries/ice and a Sonic for dinner and shakes ;) I'm looking forward to finishing up my first bow that I started at the Marshall Rendezvous in May. I'm going to bring an extra stave or two for us also.

I also can't wait to shoot that beautiful bow I got from Osage Outlaw at the trading blanket in May.  I've been to busy "adulting" to get to shoot. It's a touch heavy but I'm loving it! Not to mention that it is absolutely stunning. Everyone that sees it in my studio comments on it. Definitely a wonderful keepsake with a great memory.

My cousin and a bunch of my buddies spent a couple nights casting my Atlatl around my lawn. It's a pretty big lawn and I've been thinking about setting up a Atlatl golf course. Maybe put some hola hops out for holes. I'm thinking gym shorts and tye dye would be proper attire.

Looks like I am going to be tenting instead of trailering!  Made a practice run of 200 miles and the Sequoia didn't like pulling in the heat and wind!  Got it scheduled for oil Change and tuneup Friday!  Most of the gear is in the camper, just have to transfer it to the cargo hauler, and get the one pole loaded, as well as the staves and shoots, arrow and bow making tools, etc.  MOJAM ale is bottled and sourdough bread is baked and fresh frozen, should be thawed out by the time I get there,  but I have 3 events Sat & Sun that will cut into Loading time!  Plan to bring a fan and the little generator.  Still almost a 2day haul from here, plan to get there Tuesday afternoon, I hope!

Hi y’all!  I just read up the 20 odd pages of this thread.  It sounds like MOJAM should be a great time again this year.  I’m planning to be there as early as possibly Saturday, and planning to stay through the following Sunday.  I’ve been away from PA for a while and have certainly missed it!  I’m trying to polish up my tech certifications to aide my job search.  PA is too interesting when I’m supposed to be reading and studying cyber security data minutia.  ...but I’ll be damned if I’ll miss the MOJAM fun for any cert though!

It’s good to be home...

BTW - I’ve taken up carving smoking pipes out of bow building scraps.  I’m bringing this one to donate to the auction table...

I'll be there hopefully around noon on Sunday.  I'll also bring my fish fryer and tank.  And can help cook.

Jon,  I can bring some extra fish if you need me to, I have lots of crappie and white bass,  lots!

I can't wait for this vacation,  work has been really rough this week and has really hinderd my preparation plan.  But I hope to have everything loaded Saturday and head out early Sunday.  3 more days!

I’ll have a few with me that I could either trade or sell.  I’m pretty s l o w  at making them, so there’s not likely to be more than just a few...

We should be arriving on Wednesday early afternoon!!! I’ve got a couple new things in our trailer !
Wyatt is trying to decide if he will bring a few staves to sell or trade all he has has left is the ones he kind of wants to keep. I know he is looking for a rasp like he used at Michigan I believe it was a Shinto rasp but you never know about what he would trade for! As always he will be willing to help split staves just ask him. Can’t wait to see everybody!! Oh thinking I might stop by Paul’s on Monday night and sample this pie everybody is talking about😃hope there is some left for you all!!

Man its going to be full this year!
Just got off the phone with my Uncle Gary,  he said they will be there around Wednesday, said he was bringing some froes, a big tanned elk hide and some other furs and all sorts of other stuff.  Said he is more prepared for our crowd this year.

I'm officially on MOJAM TIME!  Got off work at 7 this evening and all I got to do is get packed,  well maybe a little laundry and mow the grass.  I should be leaving out early Sunday morning if everything goes as planed.
Maybe when I get there Hawk will have those "mojam ales" iced down!

I have managed to pull out an pack almost everything on my list. I will finish packing it all up after I pick up my rental in the morning. I'm not sure how big of truck bed I'm going to have to shove all of these goodies in so I may have to adjust and improvise.

Gotta run to the store for a few groceries too. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to bake some cookies. Otherwise you all might get store bought.

Still need to pick out a stave to bring with me. I'm sure I'll finish the one I am working on while I'm there. Maybe I'll just see what everyone is bringing to sell too. It would be nice to buy one as a memento of this occasion. <----- I'll use that as my excuse to purchase one there. ;)

I can tell Cahl is getting worked up about it. He isn't one to show excitement or emotion but he's been out of his normal teenage funk today and laughing at my awful jokes.

I dont want to use them when others will probably need them, cpap and such, so, with bringing a smallish generator, is there a place I should park? Such as a generator designated area or does it matter?

There is a grocery store close by if you want to save the space. I do my food shopping a few times during the week to keep things cold and save room.

If you oark next to Patrick kevin ko one will hear your generator over the roar of his.  >:D.

We are finishing up packing in the morning. I got the truck half loaded. Just have to drop amd pack the camper, load the rest and hit the road. I do t know what time we will be there, but im guessing 3.

Maybe we can all get close to the electrical Hookups and save fuel. I am bringing a small generator and my fan and a couple of longish extension cords and  a power bar!  No poison ivy to set it in, please!  Got to get everything loaded!  The Sequoia checked out ok, I hope, but bringing the one pole anyway!  And a 12x pop up!  Fake fire and extra propane to run it, bug chasers, Dutch oven, etc.  and a cot!  Too much to. Do this weekend!  Judging an Earthdog trial tomorrow about 40 miles away, got a black powder shoot on Sunday as well as a show that Jacie is playing Sunday!  Do have my sign made, just have to remember to bring poles to hang it on!  Everyone travel safely!

Man,  all I have to do is get packed,  but I have to pack everything,  haven't even began to start.  Im sure the wife will have something she thinks I need to do also.  But ll be 99% done today,  and probably put my bows in the truck in the morning.

See everyone tomorrow!

Patrick,
What type regulator do you need?  I have several grill type regulators laying around the garage I can bring along, big 20# bottle hookup type.  From my garage to yours!
I will start loading the trailer this afternoon, but 95F is almost enough to slow me down >:D!  Getting anxious!  Better make a list and check it twice!
Paul,
I'll send a text when I'm about to head out Monday!  Should be able to roll pretty well, the cargo trailer has a low profile, except for the pole rack.  it is about 8-9 hours to Your area if I remember correctly.

That would work Neil,  Ill bring a big bag of hardwood Charcoal also.

Hawk,  that would be great of you to bring a regulator.  But don't worry about it,  from what I can find, my smoker takes a special kind with a weird little adapter for the burner controles.  I'll just order a new one.

I'll see you guys tomorrow!

Well, it was a fiasco this morning but I made it through with out losing my cool. Went to pick up the truck I rented from enterprise and the refuse to use my bank credit debit card as payment. They said regular credit card only. I have one credit card but I keep the limit low so if my online purchases are hacked I’m not out much. I even tried cash. They don’t take that either. This was at 11 am. Then the light bulb went off as I was waiting for John to pick me back up. There was a van at the local U-Haul this morning  I was 20 min away and they closed in 30. I called and let the gentleman know what had happened and he stayed until I could get there to pick it up. And they had no issues with my card. Whew, crisis overted. I saw Cahl’s face when it looked like we might not be leaving tomorrow. And man... I knew how much he was looking forward to this. So the van is loaded and we leave tomorrow early. I would have drove my truck if needed to but I haven’t double check that oil pump since my last trip. I’m sure it was the sensor but I wanted to not worry about a break down so far from home

So today I'm getting "in shape" for Mojam by working on my tractor.  ::) There was a crack in the fuel filter bowl but we managed to get to the dealership for a replacement assembly just before they closed yesterday.

Hawkdancer got here to my place safely but a bit later than we'd hoped. We'll head out in a couple hours, or so, and get there this afternoon sometime.
Gotta get a couple chores done before leaving and pick some peppers to bring along.

I rolled in the drive back home at 2am this morning. As fun as always seeing and spend a few days old friends and meeting new ones. Getting to chat with people that I hold in high regards and consider important figures in the primitive archery and wood bow community. As always I ended up leaving with a little larger pile of loot than I intended to when I initially headed down, and have a new event that’s high on my favorites list. The broadhead flight shoot, after trying it and chatting with Steve, the gears have been turning in getting a new setup for next years broadhead flight shoot, to see what I can get.
Like every year, by the end of the week your dirty, tired and ready to get home, but you already miss the mojam family before you even pull out of the park.
I look forward to seeing everyone next year, if not sooner.
Sorry about the lack of pictures, there’s just too much fun going on to get distracted by packing around a phone everywhere.

Kinda hard to summarize MoJAM XX, as more brain cells kick in, I'll doubtless have more to say and in complete sentences.

The Marshall Bow Hunters are tremendously generous with their time and effort in providing a temporary home to all the attendees, working overtime to make sure we were taken care of. Thank you one and all. Thank you.

We met our old friends and made new ones, worked on projects under tutelage of many folks in the pavilion. We borrowed tools, lent tools, learned new skills, found out where we went wrong on the ones that didn't turn out quite as envisioned. Rather than list them and leave one or more out, you know who you are and I thank you and we all thank you.

All four major points of the compass were represented, the west coast of CA, the far north of MN, the hill country of Texas and the east coast of NC.

As far as MoJAM 21, I plan on being there, Good Lord Willing.

Thank you Bob for Robs pickles.  Wow that doesn't sound right.  Had a wonderful time this week with awesome neighbors.  Greg has been underway on his 5 year plan of his bow he is building.  Thanks to everyone who helped him.   He has been talking about doing this for 5 years and finally started one so we should have it done in another 5 (hence the 5 year plan).  Can't wait til next year to see everyone again.  Thank you to everyone who fed me over the week.  Jon the fish was amazing.  Rob the fish you cooked was also outstanding.   Someone by us made some bread that was out of this world but I am not sure who it was.  Brenda and Brad we are only 45 min apart lets get together and thanks for everything.

Gail and Greg, thanks for letting my boys hang out at yku camo most of the week.

Bill, Im glad you made it to Mojam! It was cool to see you there hanging out with everyobe else. I wish i could have chatted more.

Clint, A a ron, Evin, and barefoot Scott and me had a fiercly competitive six holes of golf before A A ron and scott stole the gold cart and drove it back to camp. The course officials made clint go through a sort of waterboarding session before he was allowed to leave!

Hopefully the second round of floaters make it home safely soon too.

What a whirlwind week of bowmaking.

A big Thanks to all the Marshall Bowhunters and everyone who worked to make this a great experience!  I learned something new every day, got my hickory bow tillered with a decent tiller and shooting within my tolerance for draw weight!  Had a real great time, and plan to bring the Little Fiddle Woman next year!  She needs another TShirt!, and a self bow(she doesn't know that yet!). Thank to Paul for leading me in and letting me recharge at his place!  And to all the guys to helped reset the one pole after the slight shower on Wed.  Wally World luckily had some pool noodles which helped keep the rain away the rest of the week!  The humuggity is a different program!  And a special thanks to Kyle, Neil, Pau , Larry, and Clint for stocking up my wood supply, Bob Barnes and Badger for helping me with the Flemish twist! The flight shoot was an interesting experience, and a work in progress!  I will critique it from my new guy perspective, and it was a unique event!  Luckily, I can go out to the grasslands and shoot for distance!  Hopefully everyone who was interested in the MOJAM Ale was able to get up the hill to get one!  A certain Viking was so impressed with it's quality that it made him go to sleep! Right in the middle of a war story involving sleep!  Have to plan a brew for next year!  Congratulations to all those folks who got bows built and/or shooting!  There were a lot of dedicated folks in the pavilion!  Thanks for bringing all the tools, and other gear!  I was one of the last to leave and the site actually looked like it was lonesome already! Thanks to all who helped me break camp!  Made it to Junction City, KS before I decided to stop, took a detour through Lawrence to see some old haunts and got totally misplaced!  Lost about an hour and a half trying to find Topeka!  May we all be in the same place this time next year!  An appropriate Irish toast is "Go marir is go gahir"! - "may you live long, and may you wear it out!  Also, my Dutch oven stand followed somebody home, it's a simple x shaped rack that swivels to support the lid or a flat bottom D.O.  If you got it, let me know by pm.  Thanks, the whole week was a blast!

I'll second a big THANK YOU to the Marshall Bowhunters for making this event available to go to.Never a dull moment.Camping filled up a good 1/4 mile both sides of the lane. The new event of a flight shoot had dozens of shooters.Besides all the other events going on too a group of us still shot into the wee hours way past midnight playing money tic tac toe at the target range.
It was fun putting faces with forum names and meeting new people there.

Some of the images that MoJam folk posted on fb . . . . . . . . . .

In the beginning, empty fields. But that didn't last long.

There were feasts enjoyed throughout the week. Jon's fish fry (with lotsa help from many others) was staged early in week and seemingly enjoyed by one and all.

There are many traditions at MoJam. One of them is specific to the heat. Fire Dept provides refreshing dousing for all who wanna walk behind as it sprays tons of water. Loyd has a habit of joining kids in this fav event.

There's many informal promoters of MoJam. None outdo this fella. Dave's characteristic full beard is slowly reappearing . . . smile is ALWAYS there.

Didn't get many pics of the bow-making. But suffice it to say that pavilion is tangle of tables, tools, cauls, bodies, and sticks on their way to more exciting use.

This year one young'un came to MoJam carrying one of those wheelie bows. Chris decided that would not do and went to work. Kid was soon shootin' a proper weapon.

It's not MoJam without some shooting competitions.

Jug Shoot is new addition to MoJam.

Flight shoot was added this year. Aaron crafted some eye-catching trophies. Ed and Arvin walked off with those. THANKS, Steve, for getting this organized!!
As an aside . . . I wish more of the PA community had opportunity to meet Ed. He's the real deal and one of the funniest fellas I've met.

And, of course, there's always the Clout Shoot.

While I was not able to attend this year, the regular posting of these images throughout the week enabled me to enjoy vicariously!

To borrow phrase from Kyle, "By end of the week you're dirty, tired and ready to get home. But you already miss the MoJam Family before you even pull out of the park."

I'm not around much anymore but wanted to thank Bob Barnes for emailing me about the 20th Mojam anniversary. I made the first 10 and then sorta drifted away to pursue another interest I've always had. Figured I'd better do some of it done before it became too late. Dianne and I had a great time seeing some friendly old faces and meeting some of the new energetic guys that will carry on the tradition. Thanks to Marshall Bowhunters/ Keith,Jerry and Robin especially. To Dave and No Nose and the others for keeping the spirit alive and teaching the youngsters the craft. Was so good to see Bob, and Gifford, and Sal, and Rob and Scifres and Darren, and Loyd and Butch, and Brad and Shane, and Darryl and Timo and Lenny and Mudd and Paul and Jerry and Phil and No Nose and so many more. Met some new guys Dave and Patrick that seem to make some pretty nice bows and are willing to help others. Very Cool.

Missed seeing a few of the old timers too..some who are no longer with us. RIP Dean, DCM, and RC

Anyhow it was great, and Dianne and I hope to do it again. Maybe for the 25th? lol

See you in the woods,

the Ferret

What a week! Probably one of the best mojams yet for me.  Thank you so much Marshall Bow Hunters for alowing us to have this gathering every year.

Im sitting at work right now on lunch trying to stay focused and not fall asleep. Just in case anyone was wondering, No Nose and I did finally get to bed around 3 am Sunday morning, nearly 48 hours straight of helping teach some very enthusiastic new bow makers.  And I would for it all again if needed.

I would love to name names of all of the people that made my mojam special but I know I would miss someone.  So Thank you to each and every person I talked to, helped,  picked on,  laughed with and learned from!

And Mike I sure did miss you buddy. It wasn't the same without you.

Favorite mojam moment?  Well there is a bunch but I do have one.
A young man probably 8 or 10 years old came up to , call me by name, and asked me to help him. So I did I marked out a stiff spot on his bow. Then he walked back over to his bench and started working on it and then I seen who he was talking to it was his dad. His dad was telling him how to do something with the scraper. I realized that I had taught his dad how to build his first bow and now he was helping teach his son. A small tear came to my eyes. What a great feeling it was.
More later,  back to work.

Patrick

A point I'd like to make here to other clubs wanting more participation from their members [which I get letters in the mail about]to get their kids started shooting bows and arrows......Through the summers here in Iowa I go to many 3D shoots with friends. Not 1 club I've seen has seen the benefit of these types of bow making gartherings like Marshall puts on that benefits the kids' participation aspect of archery.Guess it's up to me and others to plant a seed here heh????
I'm glad Mo Jam has paved the way for clubs to possibly put on a flight shoot themselves.
Kuddos to the other state clubs that do this too having special events or contests promoting participation. Many of these games the big kids like to play too.

Good to see people are arriving back home safely.  I thought this year was a great gathering.  One of the best to date.  Each person adds a special element but a few make it shine brighter with their hands on involvement at the pavilion.  You know who you are and I am forever thankful to call you friends.  Bob, enjoyed shooting with you Friday night/Saturday morning.  I had forgotten the fun of shooting but now plan to shoot the 3D tournament next week with Davis and his new Chris Rackley special gift.  Pat, i’m Gonna use the bow you gifted me.  Should get the compound guys talking and pointing. Anyway, the company was good, the food was good and the weather was even nice most of the time.  See you all next year if not sooner. keith

Congrats to Arvin for winning the self bow broadhead longest shot and to Ed for winning the composite bow longest shot.  A few honorable mentions were Steve (badger), AAron and ScottS (Mr. 214). :)  and I think Aaron got 215 yards with a hickory self bow. great job Arron. Hope I didn't miss anyone.
I learned a lot for that competition.  I'm not much on the 3D shooting, but next year I just might have the self bow to beat.

Thank you to all of you who helped put this shoot on.  This was my first ever Mojam.  I saw a lot of familiar faces and a lot of new ones.  I was welcomed to the Mojam family like I had been going for years.  I expected this trip to Mojam to be a one time deal.  However it didn't take me long to start making plans for next year.

For all the talk about the heat I didn't think it was too bad. The monsoon golf adventure was something I'll never forget.  I think someone said we got over 2" of rain in 30 minutes.  It's the first time I've had to wade through 12" of water just to get my clubs out of the cart.

Thanks to all of you who shared some food.  Neal put my leftover deer marinade on some wild turkey and wrapped it in bacon.  That was about the best food I've ever tasted.

The flight shoot was interesting.  It got my wheels turning.  I think I have the room to do some testing at home.  Here is Danznbar launching an arrow with Scott, Aaaaron, and Badger watching.  Badger displayed why he earned that name.  He ripped his arm open on a dry fire and was bleeding pretty good.  He kept shooting and making it worse.  He finally washed it off with gatorade and taped a score card over it so he could keep shooting.  He is one tough dude.

We were slow getting up and out Sunday morning but were able to enjoy one more chat with Mickey and Diane over coffee at the hotel. Sorry we missed some of the folks departures.

Had a great time as always and, once we all got re-constructed after the tropical rainstorm Thursday morning, the weather was some of the best for a Mojam in a long time. I'm glad you guys took so many pictures, it helps to keep the memory of the good times fresh. Hanging out at the top of the hill with Lennie and Shannon has been out tradition for many years and when Bob, Rob, Dan, John and Larry all arrive the fun just keeps on funnin'... ;D This year we had the the added advantage of our old friend Sal coming out and we got to listen to the culinary and gormet exploits of Darren and John one evening whilst a couple bottles of mead "evaporated" amongst us.

A BIG THANK YOU to the guys, and gals, of the Marshall Bowhunters Club for their hard work keeping this going along. Keith, Jerry, Robin, Big Mike and all the others whose names escape me, keep up with the daily chores that need doin' all week(end) long. And another THANK YOU to the park and rec department head guy for allowing it all to happen.  :OK

Can't wait till next year.

Made it home about 7:30 last evening, more than a wee bit tired and hungry!  Ran through about 60 miles of rain, but nothing severe.  Had a really great time at MOJAM and all ready plotting for next year.  Now I get to unload everything and clutter up the garage!  Hope to get to shoot the hickory bow this evening.  Thanks again everyone, when you are in or near Loveland, drop a pm, and we can get together for some refreshments!

I would like to thank all of you for being so kind and welcoming to Cahl and me. I would love to go thru and name names but I'm so afraid that I would forget someone that was deserving of the recognition. So, I'll stick to generalizations. I hope you all know who you are. Thank you so much to all of you who helped me with my first bow. I can not wait to walk into Trad League this winter and start flinging arrows with it. I learned so much hanging out with you all (some bow related, some not  ;) ) and you all have given me the confidence and knowledge to start my next one here at home flying solo.

Cahl had the time of his life getting to hang out with his new group of friends. He was already texting a few of them on the way home. We both agreed that we would not miss next year's MOJAM for anything. He was studying TBB on the ride home some more and was thinking up his "next bow idea". Thank you all for giving me the knowledge to help him here at home so he could go play and enjoy being a kid at the event. It means more that I can put into words. I had no idea that I would love the process of making a bow so much and find such a desire to make more and more. I'm hoping to get a chance to sit down and write more about it on my Chasing Heartwood site.

Thanks so much for all of the food and cold beverages, the laughs and the memories, and most of all filling that void we had where family should be. It's comforting to know that Cahl has some Aunts and Uncles out there that he can depend on. Family isn't always defined by blood alone but is defined more by what is in someone's heart. We met some of the biggest hearts over the last week. No matter how "rough and gruff" they may want to appear on the outside.

Thank you to all who had a hand in putting on the "reunion". Your efforts and dedication were appreciated so much. Thank you to all who sat up literally for days helping us newbies make our bows. Thanks to those of you who donated time and items for the auctions. Thank you for the kids trophies. Thank you for running some awesome activities.

Just plain THANK YOU....
I hope I haven't left anything out.

I have a few photos I will try to figure out how to upload here after a bit. I will also load them to Facebook. I didn't take as many as I thought I did. So I'm happy to see the others that people have posted. Maybe next year I can get John to come along with us if he can get the time off work. I'm already looking for a smaller trailer to haul down. I'll also spice up my string making skills so I can lend a hand and return the favor.

And I'll wrap it up by asking one simple question...
What are the dates for MOJAM next year?

I have to say we had a great time again this year ant MoJam. It was our second one to attend and most definitely will not be our last one. I know we are planning for next year at this time, and plan to bring our oldest Son along so he can build himself a bow.

I had a great time, it is always nice to meet folks you have known for years online but never talked to in person. I was really pleased with how many participated in the flight shoot. Everyone was a good sport. I had hoped to spend more time in the bow building area but I had a bad knee injury a few weeks before mojam and wasn't getting around very well.  Looking forward to next year.

Coby,  I'll be the first to say,  you are very welcome!
When I see a passion in someones eyes like I do with new people building bows,  I can't say no to helping them.  I would stay up another 48 hours again if the need should be there.

Steve,  it was good to meet you,  I always like meeting PA members.  Some of the best friends I have I met on PA.

Clint and Bill,  I sure was glad to see you guys there! Hope to see you both back again next year.

Hawk,  I'm glad you made it home safely bud! Maybe next year I can finish my drink and my story without falling asleep.  :o Congrats on the bow,  I didn't know it was your first one!

Tinker,  good to see you on PA finally!

Erin, im glad you had such a good time,  looking forward to seeing you again next year!

Keith,  I'll be there Saturday, packing up now!  -C-

Arvin,  it was great meeting you again and sharing camp.  You are now one of the group,  you and Deb are stuck with us now!

Bob,  come on bud,  post some pictures! ;D

I was explaining the shooting range to Jacie, and she asked me if anyone was shooting compounds, and if she could shoot her's,  I told her a few kids were, but it was all self bows for adults. Told her she would get a lot of razing!  She said, Well, you"ll  have to make me a bow.  I had to admit that that was part of the plan.  Now to find a style to fit her size (4'8") and make legal draw weight (35#)!  May have to put her to work!

Bob - yep, it's a bit busy at times; the area between the pavilion and the vendor area also had at least a dozen bow benches and shaving horses. Most of which were busy a lot of the time...The 'chaos' is both challenging and addictive, spent a good bit time down there.

Dave (dvshunter) is a fine instructor as well as the fella with bird/coon dog that followed him everywhere. Sure wish I could recall his name or handle, any help fellas? Any way I sure enjoyed their mentoring on the heatgunning, form work on my reflex deflex bow staves I had.

I'd use a couple thumbs up emojicons if I could with the 'puter'

I'm not disappointed at all... I got to shoot Joe Mattingly's 20 year old MoJam bow 186 yards...got 211 yards out of my old hunting BBO...saw nearly a dozen bows shoot over 200 yards...and saw the faces on many many people as they watched arrows fly the full length of the field... it was awesome.

Bob's right, it Was a great event and you did real well putting it all together from so far away Steve.  :OK
Yep....all good!!  I'll be ready next year.  already planning on a new bow.

In some ways i was very happy with how everything turned out and in some ways I was disappointed with myself that I didn't keep up with the paperwork like I had planned. I was caught off guard by the number of participants. Over the course of this year with input from those who participated I hope to make next year even better. I have a feeling the competition next year is going to be scary tough! We will be ready!
Trying to be in 2 places at 1 time can get a person behind in 1 of the places. We did the best we could.Possibly a larger committee to get shooters ready for the line to shoot? or the committee shoot their bows first then attend to all the needs of the other shooters documenting their distances?I'm sure we'll fine tune the procedure better next time.

At this time we are planning for next year. I should have more time to help out next year seeing how I plan on finishing up one bow. We are planning on bringing our oldest boy so he can build his first bow, with help from everyone. I hate to say it but he doesn't listen to me when I try to teach him how to do things......
On a different note..... Can we get someone to do a class on building arrows please. I finding in my research there is a lot to factor in to building them.

My suggestion would be to fletch the loaner arrows distinctive as to weight/spine, and if necessary, prefix A or B for equally weighted arrows; I.e. 400 A, 400 B, and give us dummies a chance to find our arrows amongst the field.  When all the arrows have the same fletching it is a bit difficult to find yours!  I hope to have a good set of flight arrows matched to my bows and draw length for next year.  I think bows should be weighed to the shooter's draw length, especially if he/she is shooting their own arrow, which must meet the minimum weight per pound of draw. So, if I draw a 45# bow 26", my arrows must weigh at least 450 grains, and draw 26" to the broad head.  I would like to see a class strictly for hunting arrows.  But it was a darned good show!  I had a good time and will do it again next year!  Hope this makes sense!

Hawk dancer I agree with you. I also think that as people make and design their on arrows there will be fewer loaners necessary. I don't like to build arrows. I would rather build bows. But a year into this flight shooting I am finding it necessary to built the flight arrows . the challenge to build a better fling arrow has made arrow building a bit more fun somehow. This will help in finding our arrows. It was easy to find the ones I built if I hit the landing pad. :-)! Arvin

The key for me with arrows is to always have plenty! Lol!  I have 3 bows that all shoot the same arrows so I have 3 or 4 sets of arrows at one time.  There is a lot that goes into making a good shooting arrow thats for sure.

Yep, makin' arrows is a slow process. Now if I hit the target more often, maybe I wouldn't lose so many arrows shooting 3-D courses...

I've made some that should have flown just the way they were supposed to. Others, including the ones I got from "Red Buffalo" a few years back fly just right. Don't know if it's me or the arrows or the bow, but they fly right.

We can wrap you in an ice suit Pearl.  There's plenty of free ice available at mojam.  It will be like when they transport penguins   ;D

I just snorted my sweet tea thru my nose.

Chris it’s definitely worth it. This year the weather was wonderful. But you’ll be having such a great time you won’t even care about the temps.

It was a great MOJam.  Great pictures.  Great memories.  This was the 20th gathering.  But next year is actually 20 years.  Hang on to your hats.  I have high hopes and great plans.  Keith

Other than that slight shower >:D on Wed, and much more humidity than I'm used to, good show!  Saved by the free ice and a stockpile of Gatorade and MOJAM ale!  Already planning on next year, and hopefully, Jacie can arrange her workload to come as well!  A self bow for her is the next project, and she may have some jewelry and artwork for sale.  It was great meeting people in the flesh!  An Irish toast - "May we all here at the same time next year".

Yeah, that "slight shower" (and the accompanying light breeze  ::)) Thursday morning was interesting... wish someone had gotten a picture of that but we were kinda busy hanging on to the various awnings in the "breeze".

Well we had a new ride at mojam this year.  It was called "The Lorado Sidewinder"

Its kinda like when a camper decides to make a left turn without a truck attached to it.
Things that make you go "OH $#@&"!

Got snowed on in August over at Camp(Fort) Ripley many years ago, surprised the heck out of us Missouri boys!  Been snowed on in The mountains a couple of times after I transplanted to Colorado - not surprised at all!  Snow in Missouri in August would be a shock!  But rain, that is another story!  The cool spell was supposed to follow me down to Missouri, but it got diverted somewhere!  It apparently hit 100 here on Tuesday!  Only 90 at Marshall! >:D

Also forgot my deep fryer and tank to, luckily i have grest friends! ;)

May well have left 3 long steel stakes in the ground where the tent blew over at the top of the hill, and my Dutch oven lid stand/rack followed somebody else home after the potluck.  The stakes might do serious damage to a mower blade, they are 20" long!  As for the one pole, it suffered from fatal dog bites whilst I had it up for drying!  Nothing important, I think the stakes cost more than the stand!  Great show, and looking Forward to next year!

If its black leather that looks kinda like a holster it yours now.  I have a ton of it.

Hawk, sorry about you dutch oven stand.  Im sure the mowers found your stakes.

I lost a couple of things last year,  but I guess someone needed them worse than I did.

Im positive my scale will be there for us to use next year. Mojam kinda helps me unclutter the house by storing certain things for me for a year. Pat the piece of keather i have is a large brown circle. Sof thick leather though. Im using it for my vice now since my other piece went missing. Definitly bringing more vice leather next year. Only about 48 or 49 weeks to go.

Dont worry about it kevin. They are almost free at garage sales and goodwills. Im glad we all got to use it. Next year we should just use my propane fish fryer and a large pot. That should speed up the process.
