I was looking for a peace of hedge for slats or lams and stumbled upon a off shoot of a crotch that looks strait grained to me if Im reading the bark right the rest of the tree looked to spiral grained but only took 5 min. to cut and seal I wasn't planning on cutting hedge today just stumbled upon it lucky find ! This one looks like it would make a good self bow to its going to be a hard choice to lumberise ! Its strait for about 76 in. and takes a bit of a lateral curve.

Might be able to get 5 bows if I cut slats it really was a lucky find we where out doing other stuff and I spoted it & lucky we had the chain saw with us it was a spur of the moment find.

That's a nice looking piece of osage. If you are going to split it into staves you might want to bust it in half so the ends don't start checking on it.

Thanks Clint I sealed it with poly right after cutting I will probably split it out his week end !
