My buddy Rob, "Trapper rob" gave me these billets in the 2017 supply trade. They were narrow and only allowed me about 1.125" of width. So I made the bow long. Its 68" and pulls 50# @ 28". I did a long build along on the Leatherwall site if anybody wants to see that side of it.

Got me! I will add it to the second post. I must have missed it the first go-round.

That’s a beauty! I really like it.

Very nice love your stagerd joint riser !
Thanks, those are just hickory slats with a mostly even blend of heart and sap woods. I just flipped them in opposing directions to get the checkerboard deal.
-
Wow bud! That one really turned out sweet. That handle work is just too cool. Beautiful work.
-
Very, very nice. Love those RD curves. I'll have to check out the build along.

Nice lookin' bow, Drums! I like the handle work. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
-
That's a really nice looking bow. I love the laminated handle and the bend awesome!
-
Beautiful looking bow Pearly. Great detail work.
-
Nice looking bow, Chris. I see you have concentrated the bend on a fairy short section - have you measured speed? That thing looks fast.
-
I tillered it to bend until I hit the reflexed portion, which started a bit farther down the limbs than I wanted it to. With the bow being quite long I knew I could get away with it, so I left it. As far as speed, I have no way to test it. It feels as fast as any 50# bow I've made. It is very smooth on release. My bow hand doesn't feel much at all.
-
profile of your bows are really sweet...gut
-
I bet it pulls like a recurve and releases/shoots like a molly............

Likewise, my friend. Im sure this bow will be close by next time we see each other.

Thanks for all the comments fellers, I appreciate it. I worked as hard on this bow as any I have in a very long time. It was started months ago and slowly crept to the finish line.

Excellent.

Beautiful bow Chris
-
Wow Pearly, now that looks like one clean, snappy, and smooth-operating shooter. Between this one and Ed's you guys got me fired up. (SH)
-
Cool bow!. Looks like a very smooth shooter. And use of sap/hart wood is really a eye catcher.
I do have 1 question. You have circles centered on midline of limbs. Is this to determine limb width during rough out or to help with splicing? I looked a build along and don't remember seeing a reason. Maybe I missed it. Just wondering. Thanks Mike
-
I find the natural center of each stave. Then use the circles to get perfect width tapers. I have a circle template that goes from 1/4" - 2". Once the circles are traced on I connect TDC of each to make for a perfect width layout.
-
Very nice bow
-
Way to go Pearl I love it. Arvin
