I haven't posted any arrows in a while, and with my rotator cuff issue, pulling bows back lately hasn't been much fun. So I make some arras.
The two on the left are honeysuckle shafts gifted to me by Guy at last Marshall. The two in the middle are hill cane shafts gifted to me by PatB at last Classic. The two on the right are just some of my old Kentucky river cane.
Crested with a little snake skin wrap with silk thread trim
Wild turkey fletch dyed with Kool Aid
Nocks reinforced with sinew
Seed bead nock indicators
Maribu feathers as primitive aluma nocks
ScottS stone points hafted with sinew.
Field points Duplex nails with thread wrap and epoxy coating.
Thanks for looking

Beautiful work Bill
-
Very nice Bill. What do you think of the hill cane?
-
Thanks Aaron....
Pat,
I was hesitant at first with the nodes being closer together than what I'm use to, but after working with a couple of dozen, they are the smallest diameter for the spine and are heaviest per inch than any other shaft I've worked. They are also a little more brittle than my rive cane but I think that helps in paradox recovery. I wish my shoulder would get better I would shoot a bunch more of them.
Thanks again, See ya at the Classic.

Thanks Joe, Clint appreciate it................

Sure hope your shoulder gets better Bill but it sure is nice to see some of your arrows again. Beautiful arrows Bill. Like Clint said I could pick your arrows out in a crowd functional beauty.

PS physical therapy really helped my shoulder. I have some exercise I still do.
-
Very nice work! I like it! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
-
Good to see your latest, sir! Truly impressive in the sense of bringing all those artistic/functional elements together.
Congrats!
Look forward to seeing you in TN.
-
Real nice! I think you set the bar real high for quality arrows! Take care of that shoulder! Get it checked out If it isn't better in a few weeks, you may need p.t. Or surgery! Try pulling a much lighter bow for a while. Some of the pt exercises can be tailored to the type of activity you like.

Thanks Mike, yep see ya at the Classic if the creek don't rise
Hawkdancer, thanks I think I may have to make a 30-35# bow for therapy exercise. :)
Thanks Edddie.....

Wish I woulda give ya better points now. Man your arrows shine! :o

Very nice arrows Dbar, you definitely have a "look" for your arrows. Any body would be proud to have those in their quiver.

You make some beautiful arrows.

Those are amazing looking arrows. I'd be hesitant to even shoot those if I made arrows that nice, I know I'd loose 'em.
-
Thanks Guys.....

Did'nt see this right off. Those are made from the best of the best I'd say put altogther by one of the best.Makes my plain jane old dogwoods look kinda peekid.Lot of love put into that set.
I have or should say still have a touch of a rotater cuff tendon problem yet too myself.I'm able to shoot 50# bows yet but beyond 55# it's a no deal.
-
Ed,
That's why I stay in the 45#- 50# range! Found out I. Broke a shoulder playing football in high school some 40 years later, had big trouble doing push-ups for more than 10 years!

Beautiful arrows. It took me over a year to get back to normal after my rotator cuff surgery.
-
Thanks guys on the comments on the arrows ......but on the shoulder I'm going to better that....... I'll be back to shooting a 50+# bows within six months......:)

Mighty fine bullets buddy, love those D-bar arra's. Good luck with the shoulder stuff.
-
Man them are some great looking arrows. I would think twice about shooting one of those at a small game animal. I wouldn't have any issue using on on big game though. Great craftsmanship. You did a build along or how to one time. I cant seem to find it using the search feature. Do you know where it is?
-
Bill walked up to me at Marshall holding out 2 of those arrows. I didn't know what to say!
Thank you so very much, Mr Bar. They now hang in a place of honor in the crafting area.
-
Lucky you Knoll. Bill really makes some fantastic arrows. Those should be a true inspiration. I had a surprise to. Last year jeb gave me some Obsidian and cholla at the Michigan Flint Knappers meet. I gave him a arrow at Marshall. He gave me a beautiful stone point arrow at Marshall this year. I really need to get some pictures of it. Love trading those arrows.

Bill gave a a couple of beautifully executed hill cane arrows from a bundle I gave him last year at the Classic. They are as beautiful and well made as any other hill cane arrows I've seen or have. :OK
Thanks Bill.
-
Glad you like them Pat and Mike. Guy got the other two in the bunch theywere made of some honeysuckle shafts he gave me over a year ago.
BJ... in between all the life issues I'm going through right now. I'm finding time to relax an work on our trade arrow I owe ya. If Kim is up to it, we should be at Elm Hall this year Thursday afternoon. Should have your arrow or arrows ;) then.
Till next time

Bill really honestly don't worry about it at all. Just take care of Kim and spend as much time together as you can buddy. That's what really matters. You don't "owe" me anything.

BJ ........making arrows really helps me to relax and keep my mind off other issues. but I don't get as much time as I would like to do those kinda things lately. I've been busy getting everything ready for me to quit working for a while. I need to support Kim as much as possible, and do the "retirement" things a little earlier than planned. The best hunter always adapts and looks ahead to the situation and that's what I'm trying to do. Taking everyday as it comes and making the best of it for her. She really deserves it, working as a hospital nurse for 35 years.
Thanks again everyone for the kind works...
Till next time

I hear you Bill. Amen brother.

Great work Bill...Excellent craftsmanship...Those should be easy to track in flight also...Like the stone points!
-
I keep a diversity of different shoot shafts around too.All self nocked also.Pretty blame tough arrows also. Those are beautiful ones. The long tapered form of them fly very clean for me too.One thing that's always looked at when 3D shooting with my buddies or target shooting is watching arrow flight of each others' arrows.
I always have the spine and mass weight written on all my arrows. It always kind of intrigues the fellas who buy all their arrows made.
-
Yep all my personal arrows have spine and weigh on them. :OK
DBar
-
Mine too. I lost arrow at least a year agg at local archery complex. At their 3D shoot yesterday a fella walked up and handed me that arrow. Said he knew it was .ine from cresting and spine/weight written on it.
