I've been working on this bow for a while now and it's finally come together. It is 62" long and pulls 58#@28". It's 1 3/4" wide at the fades and tapers to the tips from mid limb. It's backed with copperhead skins. This is the first time I've worked with copperhead. Man, they sure are beautiful. The tips are buffalo horn and the handle wrap is elk leather with calf lace stitching. The painting along the skins was done with acrylic paint. It really shoots well. I've definitely come to like this style. I made this bow as part of a how-to bowmaking video series on my youtube channel. It was a fun project to do, and I'm glad it turned out like I wanted. It would have been embarrassing to get to the end of the video with a broken bow!

One of my favorite bows you have built. what a beautiful piece of wood. The finish work is beautiful bud. The bow has everything. A top notch piece of art.
-
beautiful as always. What photosharing site are you using to post these days?
-
Crazy beautiful! Wish my wife had curves like that.
-
Bravo, sir! That is a beauty. I've got a yew stave ready for the hatchet and this might be the inspiration I need to get started.
-
It bows like this that making my list longer. Keep telling myself after the one I'm working on I'm going to take a break. Then you guys just up and post something great.
I did a double take, I originally read it as "YOUTH recurve 58#@28" and my first thought was whst kind of youths do you have in your part of the world?😊
-
Thank you Anthony!
Thanks, Jeff. I switched over to Imgur. It's the easiest that I've found.
Thanks, Limbit! I don't recommend sticking her in boiling water or using a heat gun.
Thank you, pnwarcher. Glad to provide a little inspiration. I never regret digging into a piece of yew wood.
Thank you, dieselcheese. We breed 'em strong out here in Oregon! ;)

Incredible job on that bow Weylin!
-
What an awesome work of art. The finish details are amazing.
Looking at your draw pics, I was thinking the bow was even heavier than 58#'s.
-
Followed the build on youtube. Great job. Beautiful bow. Would love to see how you do the handle wrap. Thanks.
-
Beautiful, waiting for the part 11 of the series!
P.S.
I am that Harald dude commenting on your videos.

It does not get much better than that, pure beauty!

Beautiful! I will definitely check out the video.
-
Gorgeous bow! Love the skins. It's a true work of art.
-
another beautiful example of your craftsmanship.
-
Beautiful as usual. I also watched your videos, very concise and informative. I will be taking the bow you sent me to Mojam for the broadhead flight shoot. I think it will do well.
-
That's a Dandy one, Weylin, simply stunning.
-
I love the way the limbs transition out to the tips. Great weight you got out of that one as well. Congrats! (-S
-
Link to your channel?
-
Thank you for the kind words and support. You guys are great! Those of you interested in my channel just search for Swiftwoodbows on youtube. I want to respect PA's rules and not post a link.
Bayou Ben, you'll have to forgive me for my full draw picture. I forgot my finger tab and I'm a lefty so I was working a bit to get it back comfortably. ;D
PaSteve, I'm glad you are following along with the videos. Sorry the handle wrap wasn't in there. I will get around to that video at some point.
Thanks, Bubby. yeah, those copperhead skins sure were easy to work with
-
That one is a real dandy. Beautiful bow.
-
Weylin, that’s a beautiful bow, a style I love as well.
-
Awesome bow all around Weylin
-
Very nice bow!
-
It's an awesome bow. The handle wrap, the tiller, the skins... everything. Simply beautiful.
-
Very nice bow. Hard to believe it's only 62" long
-
Sweet bow, Weylin! I have a Pacific yew stave I've been looking at for a couple of years now wondering how to go about getting a bow out of it. I've already watched some of your YouTube (YewTube :P) videos and I might just go about the stave the way you do it on your video series (especially since I want it to be a stiff handled recurve). I even have a nice set of WDB skins I'm going to put on it, but while that combination looks good, the copperhead/yew combo is superb! If I do get around to building the bow along with your videos, I'll be sure to post it here!
-
I echo all the preceeding comments. Just gorgeous!
-
Nice! Don’t know how I missed this one👍🏼👌🏼
-
Thanks again!
ty_in_ND, glad you're finding the videos helpful. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Marc, you made me doubt my memory! ;D I went back and measured it. It's definitely 62" Must look longer because I'm short. :P

That explains it. I'm 6' 2" so a 62" bow looks a bit small in my hands
-
Beautiful bow.
-
Seeing gorgeous bows like your's is part of what got me started on the bowyer kick, this really is some top notch work. Additionally, while not necessarily bow related, I must say you always seem to do a spectacular job on the photography of these things as well!
-
Thanks, Soggydog! Glad I could provide some inspiration. That feels good. As for the pictures. I just snap them with my phone. nothing fancy. I did a little tutorial on bow photography. It's pinned at the top of the bow section.
-
This is my first post, just wanted to say I've been working on my first bow, having a hard go at it, and your beautiful bow is giving me the inspiration I needed to keep going (even if it breaks). Thanks!

It's great to hear that you're feeling inspired by my bow! I remember starting on this forum about 9 years ago and feeling the same way looking at these guys bows. Sounds like you've got the right attitude. Post your pictures and questions here in this forum and we will help you out. You wont find a nicer bunch.
