I don't really like the look of this design, but I'm trying to marry a d bow, flat bow and mollegebet!it's half floor tillered, more to come.crappy glue lines so we will see if it holds(or my shoulder holds)!
-
I have always felt that the design you have would work very well for flight arrows. Just a slight bend coming out of the fades and most the bending right in the widest area with stiff outer limbs. I plan to follow your progress on this one.
-
I think it'll look great.
-
Looks like a nice design to me. Reminds me of a Sudbury bow. I am working on a hickory that looks similar to this, though my handle is not quite as long.
-
What's the total length? So you glued the maple on before tapering the cedar in a flat profile?
-
No ,I preshape the core and backing and added a couple of bamboo dowels in the handle.the lenght is 61" for a 26" draw
-
Cool...I thought you might.Need some more pics then I guess later on.I for sure will be watching.I scored a bunch of longer length edge grain red cedar and maple for some future bows.

Very cool design I think really like Steve eluded too only working in a smaller wide section of the limb.I call that a willow leaf type.I myself have never made one quite that design either.Cool your stepping outside the normal envelope of design for yourself.Ought to be a good performing type bow.

thxs bowed.i have been playing with this design a bit.google elm willow leaf molly, same design in a self bow.
-
Interesting design (-P

Not quite sure what you don't like about it. It looks like an elegant design to me
-
I for one hate to get caught up in exactly what design this is and that.Although it is a good referral type way of identifying it.Without those I suppose we would'nt be able to contort them to our own liking.I like to call them just a good bow self or backed and that's it.
-
I thinks it looks good! Nice flowing lines! I am following this one for sure
-
I like it. :) It's kind of a slender paddle bow...
-
I'm interested.
The old BITH Sudegabet.

The new red cedar I cut up here is clean mostly edge grain cut 2" wide by 7/16" to 5/8" thick @ 6' long. One is a clean flat grain @ 11/16" thick though. When I say clean,I mean no knots and straight grain.
I don't mind asking what you've come to for dimensions as far as thickness and length of handle/length of fades etc.if you don't mind telling me.....lol.I'm thinkng around 2" wide at the widest in the working portion.I saw your elm willow leaf molly you came up with for your cousin and it is fantastic to say the least. It held up very well for you.Your going a little bit longer now for a longer draw.I have some winged elm staves from Jon W[who makes this design too] that should be made to this design.Bubby & Danzbar and probably others I'm not mentioning made a mean version of this design too.
-
Yup starved glue line, kaboom! (lol)to much pressure at glue up!back to the drawing board!the design is sound, just not my execution!
-
Shoot!!Sorry....Red cedar strikes again.I think it's a great design too myself.
-
Looking forward to your next one. :OK

Good try! Gold star. Back to work.
