So I’m eyeing a volcano here that’s open to the public and its surrounded by a lake. Would this be a good spot to look?

Ryan I know Obsidian is volcanic glass but I don't think all volcanoes have Obsidian. I'm certainly no expert though. Might be worth a visit though. Maybe you could find someone with more information about this specific volcano.

Yep It's the only place i know of. Quick cool lava = obsidian slow cool= granite

I’m in the Philippines I have quic access to Taal volcano. It’s in or near the Batangas area which was characterized for having obsidian artifacts.

I cant find online references leading to obsidian in taal volcano
however there is a page called "pacific obsidian sources" stating that in philippines you have obsidian in obsidian hill Huluga Mindanao

Oooh, that’s risky, Mindanaos a warzone right now. I did find a source far an area in Batangas. I’ll post it for the few Philippine knappers here
