Okay, the name is a bit cheesy. :D It's cause the top limb has a water snake skin (surf) and the bottom has a garter (turf).
Anyway, this bow is a short, sinew-backed yew branch. It has a really high crown, and I didn't have a whole lot of sinew, so I ran a moderate coarse along the very top of the crown. This was mainly to allow me a 27" draw with a 50" piece of wood. It worked, cause I've been shooting it a bunch and it's holding the unbraced profile nicely. It shoots a 10 gpp arrow between 140-150 fps. Not great, but not bad either. :)

Cool little bow, Upstate. I'll be adding sinew to my shorty yew bow, similar to your's, soon.
-
Very nice!your a bow making machine man!

Pretty impressive bend there sir. I like it. And varity is the spice of life. You get tried of one snake skin you can look at the other. Their both sweet.

Thanks fellas. :)
You said it Ed. Making this bow was kinda like when you look in the fridge, realize you don't have much, but manage to scrape together a meal nonetheless. -C-
Lookin forward to seeing that yew shorty Pat. :OK (-P
Thanks bushy. I've always got a bunch in the works. You should see how many I break (--)

Nice shorty!

Nice one Jeff!
I see two inches more draw length in the outer halves of the limbs (in case you want it)
-
Thanks my friends from across the Atlantic! )P(
Yep, I saw those extra two inches of draw, but cause the reflex is out there I figure the outers are at least working a little so I left um. :)

Looking good, i like the non matching skins, keeps it interesting!

Those skins look real good over that high crown. Nice bow! Mike
-
Those skins really jump out at you. Very nice work.
-
Thanks fellas. I wanted something to cover the sinew and I used what I had on hand. I guess it turned out okay. :D
-
Very nice work with such a short piece. I really like the color contrast with the skins and yew.
