I posted this one awhile back unfinished. It's actually my first osage bow and it's nothing but a Osage , a string and tru oil. I call it "Simply Orange". I've been shooting it for about nine months now and it's really holding its profile nicely. To tell you the truth it's been so long since I had it on the tree I kinda forgot it's draw weight but somewhere close to 50@25". If I remember right it's 62" ttt. I actually hunted with it late muzzle loader season last year without any finish on her. I plan on hunting with her this year and it's coming soon. Just thought I'd share a few pictures with you all.
Hope you like em.

Nice looking bow - I like "simply osage" selfbows. Well done.

Anything added to that would just be superfluous.
-

Thanks everyone. I'm glad you like it. I thought about putting tip overlays on but I couldn't make myself do it. It really is amazing to me what a sliver of this wood will do.

Simply Awesome! I've been thinking of a design for an osage stave I have, and now I know what I want it to be. Thanks.
-
Thats what osage wants to be,simple ,strong and functional.
-
Thanks so much everyone. I'm really kinda surprised by all the kind words. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who sees the beauty in a stick like this. I guess it's the bowyer in us. If I put this stick in my pile of bows and showed them all to the public. It would probably be one of the last ones picked up.lol. Don't get me wrong, I love em prettied up with skins and wraps and tip overlays. Weylins HLD yew is amazing. I love em all

nice bj! reduced to the max - no gimmicks - like ;D

Great looking bow! That's my style lately. You don't need anything else but a piece of osage to make a great bow

Thanks smik
Thanks Weylin, it is fun making these simple ones to. I do really love your fancy ones though to. Especially that yew HLD

Thanks so much everyone. I'm really kinda surprised by all the kind words. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who sees the beauty in a stick like this.
I think one of the main reasons we all love this one so much is that it exemplifies exactly what many of us hoped to achieve when we first got hooked by the craft... a simple, hard-hitting bow that holds its profile and remains capable of putting meat on the table for years to come.
-
Thanks Thunderlizzard
Thanks Jeff. I think that's the nicest compliment anyone has ever given me. It really means a great deal to me. Thanks again

Remember, unless you are mass producing for the uninformed public, your best work will largely go by unnoticed. But when people that are well versed in the craft look at your work and compliment you...yeah, well, you are working in another dimension now. Your work is recognized, sir.
-
Thanks JW. You guys are making me blush. I know one thing for sure. There's a bunch of other guys on here that are in the same or higher category and without their generously sharing their time and knowledge I'd still be the uniformed public.
My sincerest thanks to all of you.

Thanks again everyone. Just like to remind you all to go to the Bow Of The Month section and cast your vote for your favorite bows. There are some beautiful bows there, any of which deserve a vote.

That's what it's all about. Cool story to read also. Nice job BJ.

-
Thanks guys. Does make this a really special bow to me.
Timbo, if you look in the Shooting and Hunting section of this site then 2018 hunting pictures it'll be titled "do it again " if you've never been to that section of this web site I highly recommend giving it a look see. Coolest place on this site
