Awhile back Wayne from True Shaft Archery had a special block of wood he offered up in a drawing. He was busy and I was busy but everything finally fell into place and I received a package in the mail last week. My wife said the postal carrier was really wondering what it was. It was marked fragile. Must be from France my wife said.lol. Guess you had to be there. Here it is. Probably be a bit before I get much done with it yet Wayne. I did seal ends. I forgot what type of wood it is?

Sitka Spruce if I remember right. :)

That's what I was thinking to DC

That should make a bunch of dandy shafts! Of course, you will need to find your round tuit to make them round >:D!

And until you find that round tuit, they are "curing" and stabilizing in situ.

Yup , Sitka Spruce :)
thanks for your patience and understanding. :OK.
i would band saw them into squares and then shaft them with your chosen method. splitting will reveal shafts, but you will lose quite a bit to trim.
IIRC there should be about 80 shafts in that block.
holler if you want some pointers to help ensure getting close to your chosen spine etc

I was a lucky winner of a block of sitka spruce too and I received that block of wood recently as well. I have some other projects i am working on right now but I will try and get a picture up of the block soon.
I did get a new blade for my table saw so I am getting ready to make some arrows.
Thank you Wayne.

you guys are most welcome!
only rule is, if i may, is i would love to see pics of what you do, and the finished arrows.
i love following this forum and watching the master crafts unfold!

Wayne I will definitely follow that rule. I've been visiting my daughter the past few days. Hoping to get a chance to do something soon. I really don't think my tiny old ban saw is really the right tool.
Pretty sure you make nicer shafts than me though. I know I got some from you in the past and they are some awesome shafts.
