Title: Alabama Kentucky rifle show
Post by: Eric Krewson on January 05, 2019, 05:31:30 pm
Don't know if any of you guys are interested in this stuff but it really neat to see so many masterfully built guns. Lots of parts available as well.

Just a heads up for old timey gun nuts, lots of flintlocks, older percussion guns and reproductions;

I thought about taking my Kibler kit with me to show off but I am afraid if someone offered me a chunk of change for it I would go home without it and have to make another one.

I added some bling to it in the form of moldings and a toe plate.

I went to the show this morning, outstanding, I saw local friends and a lot of guys I had communicated with on the net but never seen in person. So much stuff to see one get overwhelmed and glosses over some of the displays.

I got to see and original Samuel Hawkens rifle and a rare one indeed. The Lady at that table was very interesting to talk to and said the rifle cost more than a house.

The crowd was large this morning, this is a good thing as we want the guys who put it on to at least break even and hopefully make a small profit.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. Our local club, Fort Osage Muzzleloaders puts on a small show.  One thing I've noticed about the club and show, a lot more grey hair than dark hair. Hopefully the few young uns will continue to carry the torch.

I know what you mean, Giff!  Our Buckhorn Skinners have the same challenge, but we also picked up some younger members - who seem to be shooting better than the old guys!  We had a work party not too long ago and the youngest guy there was 61!  Eric, have a good time at the show!  We're having our holiday party and I won't be able to make >:D (lol)!
