That's very cool. I love the way you set up the scene with the bream, crayfish, driftwood and reeds. Excellent! 8) :OK

Thanks to all
pat as with your buffalo piece it kind of tells a little story.
-
Great work. Really nice dynamic pose.
-
Impressive carving
-
Wow Steve! What a work of art. So life like 8)

Bummer about the hands! Maybe power carving with a Dremel? The bigger grip would be a lot easier on your hands, I think. Not being 21 anymore has a lot to do with it, too. Trust me, I. Know! >:D

Hawk to me power carving is not an option ,its a mind thing i guess but i feel like im not doing the work.kinda like shooting a release aid .
bj im on full time oxygen now and my strength is just not there anymore.
-
Your art is really good! Hope you get better. We could debate the method, but what the mind is able to transfer to the medium is the art. Lots of philosophy involved in the dilemma!

Once a hand-carver always a hand-carver, power carving tools have a totally different vibe (literally), so, I concur regarding switching to rotary power carving, and when my time comes I too would rather put away my gouges than switch to power, 'though I believe the Inuit had a saying , which goes 'when your teeth are gone, learn to like mush...' :-)
Do your comments mean the crappie is totally knife carved?
-
Anyone else think it is funny he uses BASSwood to carve a crappie?
Nice work, love it!
-
Beautiful, great talent.

I use a tool i made to cut the scales ,aside from that all knife
-
Wow, much respect! I absolutely love knife-carving and am never without a pocket knife and carving project in my work bag and/or glove box but I have found palm chisels and bench gouges save me hours of work in both roughing out and fine carving. Have you considered trying a v-tool and shallow gouge in addition to the knives?
-
I do you use a few gouges and small v tool.but they are powered buy me not electricity.
Dont have a thing against power carving its just not for me.if i were to be a power carver i would probably be shootingmoderen bows to.
-
Me too, i have an arrangement with a local blacksmith where i can use his bandsaw occasionally, other than that my total invengtory of power tools is a hand drill and a power file
-
That carving is really lovely, I keep seeing something new in it; what timber is the base made from?
-
Thats a piece of black walnut
-
Very nice
-
Carved a lot of decoys, but never any fish. Great Job! John
