Short version: I've got more yew squirrelled away right now than I deserve. I'd like some of it to do something interesting.
Quality varies from pretty good to kinda interesting. 20 to 40 rpi, sapwood from 1/8 to 1/4 " Split, stored dry but unheated, bark on. Harvested 2016-17-18. Lengths to 80". From small diameter trees ( 4-6") I got there just before the harvesters)
Site references: traded with DC and Wizardgoat, known to Blayne and Penderbender. Will ship Canada and US. I'd like to send wood to two individuals. Will draw names Feb 10
Long version: I've been lurking for a while here, and wanted to contribute something to the community. I've never shipped staves and have been hesitant. I won't put anyone's wood in the mail without their approval of pictures of exactly what they are getting. Pretty hesitant and don't want to leave anyone grumpy about what they got. I think I know generally what to look for and how to describe it honestly. If this works out I'd love to set up some trades. Please don't be in a rush...
If I left out details anyone needs, let me know

Can you put my name in the hat? 80 inch yew would make me the perfect bow.
-
Sebastian, I'd like to get in on this but I don't need 80". 66" or so would be fine.
-
Sebastian that's a very nice offer you put out there. I would love to put my name in your hat. I promise I won't be grumpy with anything I might receive. If I were to receive one hopefully I could make a bow that wouldn't make you grumpy.lol.
Very nice gesture.

Please put my name in the hat with the others. Not ever having a yew stave, I'd not look cross-eyed at any stave if I should win one.
Thanks again for such a generous offer.
-
Please put my name in the hat. Thank you for the chance.
-
Count me in please! Still haven’t worked any yew. I don’t need 80”, would like a short bendy yew bow. 50-52” would be plenty.

I'm already too late but I'd love an 80 inch low ring count character stave if one still stands.
-
I was too excited I didn't even read the whole post. ;D So please put my name in the hat. That is the proper request I have. Thank you for this.

What a generous offer! I would love to have a yew stave so please put my name in the hat. Thank you.
-
Count me in as well please! Any yew stave would be fine, probably 60" or more would be ideal though. Thanks!
-
Wow. I didn't expect this much interest. I guess I'm committed ;)
Peacefullymadewarbows, I know where your stave is. Unfortunately, I left it in the woods this fall. Someone cut a fir, which hung up on a maple, so they cut that too. When it came down it stripped the top and some branches of a yew. I took two shorter limbs that were DC's style, but left a long one that wasn't straight enough or wriggly enough..., so if you make it to Union Bay, BC...

I'll bring my chainsaw!... If I can find the time, and a plane ticket... and get my passport! ;D Thank you for letting me know Sebastian. Good luck to all the rafflers out there!
-
You are going to make a lot of friends here. I'm thinking we will all want in.
Put my name in the hat while you are at it, and thank you for this nice gesture.

No PM here but I do appreciate the generosity. I've rarely seen more generous people than on here.

Thanks for your generosity, Sabb. Awful kind of you to do this. Congrats to the winner, too.
-
Put my name in the hat, but it might be too late
-
@Sabb
This was really awesome of you to do. I have enough yew to not be concerned for a long while but I would love to see the bows that are made from your staves. Maybe the winners can link threads with pictures of them on here.
-
I would love a stave.. never worked yew... gut
-
Add my name please, if its not too late. Very generous of you.
-
Hmmm, I think y'all need to check the date of the original post. ::)
-
Yeah, the reason I asked to see the bows is they've had over a year since the drawing and I was curious to see what came of them.
-
The OP has not been back in here since May of '19.
Never did hear who ended up with the stave, either.
-
I'm all about c-quality or b-quality reusing or upcycling. Any pieces you have which you think aren't bowworthy, short, knotty, just not straight at all or w/e disqualifies it for u, I'd love to have a crack qt. So short and plain: whatever is your trash throw my name in the hat for that treasure kind bowyer (: !
-
alright, now I want to keep this thread going just so I can see how few people actually read the posts (-P

Something about this reminds me of some free thorough bred horses....
-
I know this post is old but I would love a yew stave... hahahahahahaha
-
The never ending give away thread.
-
Hey guys! Haven't really been online in awhile. I actually received the stave a few months ago. It was nice and clean. Made a bow for a buddy of mine with it. Just thought I'd let you know. :OK

I was lucky to get one of the 2 staves he gave away. Its a very nice stave but I haven't been able to decide on a design for it yet. Will definitely post when I get it shooting. I have very little experience with yew (only 1) and don't want to ruin it.
-
That's cool, Steve. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. :OK
-
Glad to see you got it. This post was bringing back memories of the Friendship Trade.
-
please throw my name in the hat.

Burnt, did you see the date of the initial post?
