I'm still practicing. I can get some good smoke but not an ember. It's not as easy as I thought. One thing I've learned is dont do it wearing a wedding ring. Lol...
How's young locust for arrow shafts?

I'd say try it and see. I've never used locust shoots, just never thought to or needed to.

Jake,
You might try putting some shaving in the fire hole.  I haven't made fire that way yet, but seem to remember reading that trick somewhere.  Good luck with the arrow wood!
