Hi!
What You think, does it worth to try?
-
It could be a good combo - as long as you make the bamboo very thin. I'd say 1/16" thick at the crown, or close to that at least.
-
Sure, if you can match the two in dimensions.. Quite a few guys would put lilac as the best compression wood out there.
-
Can you find a piece of Lilac straight enough. I've thought of doing a Boo backed Ocean Spray but I think it would take days of steaming and heat treating to get the OS as straight as the Boo.
-
Jes, DC, its hard to find but lilac allows wery well to heat and steam bending. I made a sinew backed reflex test bow with recurved limb tips from lilac. Its 1.3 meter ntn and i pull it to 27 inch and it will hold decent reflex after unstringing. Its magic :)... Lilac is very heavy and so is boo, that is my guestion about....

finding a straight 3' billet's gonna be a heck of a lot easier than 6' stave.
sounds like a great combo.

Lilac is heavy but it's no heavier than some other woods used with bamboo.
