What kind of glass are you starting with and what kind of paint are you using? Is it kiln fired?

I'm glad you're back.
I used to lightly spray glass points while I was knapping them so I could see what I was flaking.
I also have some old glass etching cream that can be brushed on then washed off to give them a white frosted look.
The etching cream will etch chert too and make it look like frosted glass.
