Thought some of you might get a kick out of this picture.
I was taking a shot of the tiller on this bow when... BOOOOOOOM! The look on my face says it all. ;D
-
My phone camera took a burst of shots and this is the last one... (--)
-
Okay, now the whole sequence...
-
wow are you ok!
-
I've made that face. Now the PTSD every time you draw one back for a month afterwards.
-
Months? More like years Bobert! I short draw and snap shoot every self bow I touch. I grab a glasser and yank it right back to a solid anchor. I'm screwed for life, unless maybe hypnotism could help.
-
Yeah...who am I kidding. My draw used to be 29 inches...:)
-
Wow! Awesome sequence! Never saw an "S" bow before (--) >:D! Don't want to experience one, either! Hope you are all right!

Whew! Glad you are ok. I haven't had one of those for awhile. Jawge

Thats one of the reasons I started adding more mass to my bows, I don't flinch or cringe when I draw them back anymore. Early on I was breaking at least 1 out of 5.

whew that was good one,, (W

That will buff right out ;D ;D

It is good your OK. A week ago I blew 58 inch Hickory Sudbury style bow. I gave it a belly heat treat to get some set out of it.It tillered Ok so I put it up to rehydrate.A week later I took it of the wall, and strung it, and pulled to full draw, and bang. Sounded like a 30/o6 went off in the house. Top limb went ,but I was not hurt. Three years ago I had a wild choke cherry bow blow the top limb at full draw. It broke my glasses in to two pieces ,and bruised my eye.Jawge say,s you aint making them if you aint breaking them, but it,s not much fun when it happens . All's well that ends well
-
Jeff I think it was bending a little to much top limb mid to outer.lol Glad your ok buddy. That is a really interesting series of pictures. Thanks for sharing.

It's interesting in the picture that the splinters look like they are flying forward-safely away from you. Obviously they also can fly back and cause injury. I wonder what conditions send shards "faceward" and what conditions send shards outward? Is it where the break occurs? The physics interest me.
-
Dang! Glad all is good in the end. Those are some great action photos!
-
Glad you didn’t get hurt. I can only image the looks that would have been on my face if it happened to me. Probably be changing my pants also.
-
Awesome picture sequence. I am just glad you didnt damage that great looking glass door in the process.
-
Glad yo didn't get hurt buddy...Sometimes even perfect wood lets go...That look on your face was very entertaining...My wife said what's so funny? I told her it was a "here hold my beer moment"...

Good thing you were wearing those glasses bassman!
I think you're probably right about that top limb BJ O:)
Yeah Jeff, that is an interesting question. Luckily, whenever one of mine blows, the splinters always fly away from me. Not sure what that says about how I make them, but I've broken my fare share, and that's always the way it goes. In fact, I've probably developed a false assumption that I'm in less danger than I actually am. :NN
All is good M2A :OK Glad you enjoyed the pics.
That's why I never wear nice pants when I make bows 54. 8)
Me too rps3, otherwise my wife would have made sure I didn't come away unscathed. :-M
Yup Don, got some good laughs looking at these myself. I don't know why my phone takes bursts of photos like that. It used to annoy me, but now I'm glad it does! :D
