Title: New workshop´s getting ready
Post by: Lehtis on September 11, 2019, 09:38:48 am
Last spring we sold our house and I lost my workshop along it. During this summer I´ve been building a new workshop at our cottage and it´s getting ready now. I just moved some bow timber under my cottage to the new shelf. Also my new tillering wall has got first layer of paint. Some space now to tiller well over 2 m bows (if needed); the old was only for max 180 cm staves.

You need to be careful with garages, though!  They attract trolls and can hide stuff for years and years!  We are having a zen garage cleaning/reorganizing party this weekend, and hopefully it won't upset the troll too much, he/she is prone to hide things very well. (lol) (lol) >:D!

My garage is full of other peoples stuff! My stuff has been pushed into the nether reaches of what used to be my space. We have a shed too but it is also full of other peoples stuff! Built my wife a space for her basket material and the pack rats use it more than she does!

Marc: Most of that bamboo is scrap but I have not yet destroyed them. The slats are sold for gardening purposes in 30 packs from which perhaps 10 are OK for bows. Those longer ones were orderd from UK by a bowyer colleague and most of them should be OK.

did you build the building like a shed? if so how much did it cost? did you just use a spare room? Thanks!

I built my workshop as a new ”shed”. from ”scratch”. I have not dared to calculate the cost exactly but it’s around 10 k€, a bit more in $.

Looks and great idea to have that shelf up high near the ceiling that's where all the heat is,  that's how I dry my wood and it works great wood usually dry in about 10-12 weeks.
