Title: Utah juniper as core?

Anyone used Utah juniper as core in a Ottoman composite or Native American composite?

The Indian horn bows didn't have cores. I wouldn't use juniper. Ideally you want sugar maple. Contact hardwood mills and ask for green, perfectly straight grained, flat sawn wood.

It's not hard enough. It fails as a core. A couple people tried it out. Yew is good.
