Just as subject says I know he had built some in the past. I wish all the old pictures were still available.
-
What info exactly are you looking for?
-
I didnt know if had any build alongs. The wood combos he used. How long he made them. Is the only important thing with the lams is to have strait grain. Like does matter if the lams were quarter sawn or sawn other ways as long as the grain is all the way from end to end?
-
There’ a lot of other lam bow stuff on here. Use sensible combinations and ratios and straight grain.

I’ve been away from here for the past 10 years. What happened to half eye?

He got offended.

...and Rich passed away. :'(
I have 3 of Rich's bows. One is locust, one ash and one mulberry with sapwood back.

Dang. Im saddened to find out. His Mollegabets ans shortbows really inspired me. I wish I had the chance to own one of his bows. He really pushed the white woods to the limit with really low set.

Thank you. I’ll miss his shorties and mollies
-
I think you are talking about his backed bows? He would just rip a lam off and flip it Endo and glue it back on
-
Bubby could you explain a little more? I am talking about his backed bows. So in general is the backing material plain sawn lumber or live sawn?
-
jake
what do you mean by "live" sawn?
-
I can't remember Rich doing a complete build along but if you look at his posts back when he started out here around 2010 he has many examples of these double lam bows in many combinations...Here is one example, check out the whole thread especially page 5...Rich was a bow building machine! http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,23854.0.html

One of my bow maker heroes. I work on a shorty now because of him... His work and knowledge will be hardly missed.
