Title: On the same Antler

Two smaller knives. The handles are both from the same Antler. Smaller point flint ridge and larger one dacite.

Nice!  I better get around to chipping "glass"!  Those would look good in mahogany obsidian!  On the other hand, I still have to rehaft a blade the dog chewed up the sheath and the hating!  Some years back!

Great looking work!  So, BJ, do you use these knives or are they mostly just for display?  They look too pretty to use, and too pretty not to use, if you know what I mean.  If you use them, how do you sharpen them?

Thanks Jerry
Thanks WB. To answer your question. I wouldn't call it using them. I've cut up apples and some light stuff like that. I have my favorite skinning knife and I don't even like using a different steel one.

I'm still not nearly as good as the really good guys. I keep getting a little better though. I'm sure they could be used. I think the stone ones would probably hold a edge better than the Obsidian ones.

I really enjoy making them for display though. I like putting all the stuff the good lord gave us together and letting it complement each other.

I give most for gifts. Sell a few. Keep a bunch for myself in display in my man cave.

The wood "end plug" idea is neat.  I may try that out on my next antler handle...there is still a blade on my workbench that needs one.

Thanks Tim. I just finished one up with a button on a jaw bone. I like it. Have to post a picture of it.
