Title: 64in NTN Osage what do you see?
Post by: HighEagle on February 11, 2020, 01:08:13 am
Just started this bow 64in NTN Osage  pulled 53lbs on the long string at 20in. Do you see any problems? I have heated treated and think I would like to flip the tips now, Any suggestions, I would hate to bust this one

Thanks for looking Chuck

I would really shorten the long string. Looks like the right limb is more elliptical and the left limb more circular. Depends on your front profile but both look pretty smooth to me so far.

Get it to full brace before I would do anything else and see how looks and feels in the hand. That's what really a shooter. A decent shooter can shoot most anything but a good shooter bow about shoots itself.

Looks pretty good to me, I would do as Ryan said and shorten the long string as short as you can, that will change things, you can also stretch a string from tip to tip and see roughly what it would look like braced.  :)

About  my 5th time trying to post this update,

  Brace pic 5.25"
  FD pic Approx 50@25.5"
On the tree 48@25" and 51@26"

Bow has taken very little set so far.    At 25.5" in the hand bow is starting to stack a bit, Hope it will smooth out at goal draw 27"

I was going to ask if the fades looked stiff, Do my tips look like they are bending enough? always seems to be one of my big problems

thanks for the help Chuck

Yes, slightly reflexed tips look fine...Maybe a few scrapes here at the black line...

Yes I can see that Right in the middle of the black line you made is a low dip and thicker on both sides. do you think I keep taking scraps off each side of middle? or the high side of middle?

   Thanks Chuck

I would go over that area with external calipers, or just "two finger" calipers.  Looking at the unbraced photo, it seems like an area where you need to pay attention to getting a smooth thickness taper more that strictly how it looks.  Just my $0.02...it would be easy to take too much off there.

Not sure why they are rotated, but if you click the download link beneath the photo, it comes out right side up.  Tiller looks good to me!  Have you shot it any at that draw length?

I use Gimp.  Free download and easy.  If you go that route, let me know and I will walk you  through the edits.  Simple.

Yes I have been to full draw, But when I pull for the photo using the 10 sec self-timer seems I only pull 25.5 - 26  The last mark on arrow is 27in
If you all think the upper limb looks good I think I will shoot it in for awhile, final sand etc.

Thanks again for all the help,  Chuck   Sending last pic  Test Test
