Title: Morels
Post by: Stickhead on April 23, 2020, 06:19:46 am
Well, it’s not much of a haul, but it’ll make a nice topping for blackstrap steaks tonight!

I keep checking the ground temp here. We usually collect 15-20 pounds a season but this one is starting off slow.

Here in Northern VA, people have been finding them since March.  I think they’re just about done here though.

Here on the mountain the ground temps have to get about 40 something degrees. When it does they pop in a big way! We can usually go out and get a few pounds in an hour or so. Then after the next rain we go again. It's still cold here right now, I'm others in the state are finding them but for us they haven't started yet.
