Ok folks here is the deal Sticks says we are going forward from afar
Everybody join in Memorial day weekend stay at home Rendezvous
Set up camp in the yard or driveway shoot some arrows at home
Work on a bow or 2 and on Saturday night build a fire and think of each other
We need lots of pictures of the fun in order to make it seem like we are together videos if possible, Facebook live and whatever this modern technology stuff is
This is going to be the biggest event ever covering lots of miles and lighting up not only the sky but the internet
Let's do this thing
-
Thats exactly what I was thinking of Guy. In spirit we can all be together and with todays technology we can still see each other.
-
theres something called zoom. big video call. can have tons of people.
that could be an option for a couple of the close group's or friends to see each other and talk around the fire. its free too.
-
Weather permitting we will be there guy. Hopefully the whole family.
Bjrogg
-
Zoom? Heck, I'm still trying to master email (lol) :fp! We will try to get involved, too - if we're not too pooped from packing! Real estate is supposed to re-open Monday, and we may have some showings!
Hawkdancer
-
Just a week till the campfire. Hope the weather is nice.
Bjrogg
-
That is charging up on us! We are busting our butts trying to get ready to close on the house 15 June!
Got a contract less than a week after real estate showings opened back up! We will at least shoot some clandestine arrows! Everybody stay safe as things open up!
Russell, how about posting a tutorial on how Zoom works! Us old guys need all the help we can get!

Ground fires are ok, correct? :BB (=) (SH) ;)

Ground fires are ok, correct? :BB (=) (SH) ;)
They are at my camp

I’m hoping mine is right on the beach. It will depend on the weather though. It’s still only in the 40’s here by the big lake and when the wind blows off it. It’s a damp chilly 40 something. If it’s off the lake I’m going to have it by my house or pond. (=) )P(

Yep pretty depressing. I should have one more day of work and be packing up for Marshall right now. Certainly miss all you guys. I was telling some of the guys that even if Elm Hall is a go I won't be making it. I'm taking Nina to The Boundary Waters with my buddy who I've been up there probably a dozen times with. A trip like that will certainly ease your pain of missing a couple of archery shoots. I'm sure I'll be around this weekend. I'll even throw some Wiseguy comments in there to make you feel like you're around me
-
. . . I'll even throw some Wiseguy comments in there to make you feel like you're around me
Thanks, Pauly, wouldn't be the same without that. Will miss your coffee too!
-
Would have been there by now but still putting together a camper
Kinda fell behind since we can't go to Marshall anyway but I'll be far enough along for the weekend
Looking forward to seeing you folks over the internet
I hope you all have special projects to share
Don't forget to share lots of pictures here and on Facebook
-
I should be able to make it....
Campfire at my new place.
DBar
-
Will have to our fire in the old grill - likely wind but warm! We could eat outside, and build the council fire off the cooking coals! See(?)you Sat evening
Hawkdancer
-
I will be around. I have a bow I started a few weeks ago so maybe I will get going on it. We always have a campfire on the weekend.
-
I’m sure Nina will enjoy and remember that trip for a lifetime Paul. Sure hope she doesn’t forget about all us poor saps and you can talk her into coming to Marshall next year. Maybe you could share some pictures.
Be nice to share the campfire with you again Bill. It’s been awhile. Miss you big guy.
Look forward to seeing all you guys and gals around the campfire.

Pauly can't turn a trip like that down for sure
Ok folks a lot of you would have rolled in by now so I starting
Want to catch ya up a but as I loose track of stuff more and more these days
The circle of life has been a bit rough the last year or so and probably not turning the other way for awhile yet
A few y'all may not know but they were part of the Marshall Primitive Archery Rendezvous family
Dick Carrigan that would be the T-shirt guys Dad , Aaron Shultz, Jon Stewart wife and Pearly's wife are a few that are no longer with us
I may have missed a few names but they will come to me somewhere along the way
Some of those struggling along are of course Norm , but also Marq's wife Patty as the Dr has done all he can for her , The Alien (Grant ) has had a hard time but is doing treatments and is hopefull ,
Would also like to mention William is having a bit of a irregular Heart beat issue skipping a lot of beats so he is seeing cardiologist this week
Well I reckon that's enough of that for now so let's get on with this
Hope your all pumped and ready to share with the rest of us
If the ground is firm enough I will roll my camper out tomorrow
See y'all soon
-
Guy and others, I had my alarm go off today that said I should be heading your way. I am going to miss you all severely. I do have a day of fires and bodywork planned now so we can at least be together in spirit. Csnt wait to "see you all tomorrow as my weekend would have started tomorrow!
-
I have the camper all set up.......in the driveway. I sure wish it was in the back field at Marshall. I'll have my fire going tonight.
-
I needed some paper to start my fire. I have been carrying this paper stating I’m a essential worker. It allowed me to continue operating my farm and drive for work related business. I don’t need it anymore. Can’t think of a better way to start this fire. I crumpled it up and gathered up some sticks.
Might need to do a controlled burn here first before I get to carried away

Even found a old friend. This snapper calls this beach home.

That looks like a good camping spot.

That looks like a good camping spot.
It’s a little close to the road, but I really like this spot. Would love to have you all here sometime.

Bjrogg
PS this fire is prefect right now
-
Looks good BJ. My fire was cancelled due to storms tonight. I'm stitching up a quiver. I'll be heading to the camper as soon as the rain stops.
-
Got Nina to shoot a few. No fire here, raining. Think I'm headed to the shop to have a late one
-
Too much wind for a fire, other than cooking a leg of lamb on the grill, turned out perfect! Also sated zucchini and yellow squash! Didn't get to shoot today, maybe tomorrow or Monday. Did get the workbench stripped and a picture taken, back wall area of the garage is clear, except for one peg of the pegboard, also got a pic of the leg of lamp on the grill. Just ham to figure out how to upload, can't get Flickr or Imgur to work on this iPad! Got to be an easy way a non-techie can do that! Nice fire BJ, storms are driving a lot of us inside

Great Pics BJ !
-
Brought the grandkids along
Bjrogg
-
I didnt get any pics, but the kids and I went to the farm and had a fire. I was thinking of you guys. It felt odd driving in the opposite direction this weekend.
-
It has been a busy weekend but not for bow making. Mulched the flowerbeds, went on a couple hikes, and spent some much neede time with family. One bow is taking forever for the finish to dry enough to move on. Worked on reprofiling an old butcher knife blade into a Japanese style utility knife for cooking. Fun little project!
-
Got 3/4" rain, so most all activity was indoors, prepping for the move! Replaced some ceiling panels, still got 2 to go, and took all the reloading stuff off the table - some of those get new screws when I set up again. Sure glad I am not going to do the Bolder Boulder 10 km this year, it was canceled! I guess 50,000 folks jammed together was not "social distancing" (lol). Besides, my knee isn't ready and there is too much to here! My son dropped by for a while yesterday with some friends to assess the heavy work of loading out! There goes a big lunch and some good beer!

Mowed and then got the Chainsaw out and loped off a Branch on a Big Maple that's been bugging Me. The Yeti stopped by and brought a Bow, so We killed a Bunch of Dandylions with Judos in My Yard. HOT - 87 here in Mid Michigan yesterday ! Bob

Well it’s Memorial Day. Remember what it really means.
I should be drinking my coffee watching the sunrise through the trees at wilder creek. By this time most of the regular crowd would be gone. The camp ground Would be looking lonely and I would already be missing many of you.
Soon I would be packing up my stuff. Usually I go home with things I didn’t come with. Leave without other things I brought. Some I traded. Some were gifted. Sometimes a arrow I couldn’t find is left for someone else to find. One thing I always take home is great memories. I really miss not being able to load up on those this year. I guess I have memories of my family and our campfire. They are good memories.
Normally Frank is trying to make a deal I can’t refuse about now. We have developed a good relationship and I really missed him, Dave and Steve. My pickup is full of stuff, but it’s all stuff I took to the beach and made no trades. The grandkids did find a few treasures. I was gifted a seagull feather by my youngest grandson. We took him to Marshall last year. The only stone I brought home, was a nice flat skipping stone that litter this beach and provide lots of entertainment for both young and old. I very much enjoyed the time spent with my family around a terrific campfire with awesome weather.
I missed you all and wished you could sit around our fire. I was very much looking forward to seeing some of you I haven’t seen in a few years. Good Lord Willing we shall meet again.
As I always say when we are pulling out of Wilder Creek. Only 360 days till next Marshall Primitive Archery Meet.
I’m already making plans

It sounds like you made the best of a bad situation BJ. It looks like some pretty relaxing time by the campfire.
I managed to get the kid out fishing this weekend. She was pretty bummed she didn't get to play with Nina this weekend. Hopefully next year things will work out better.
I stopped by and fixed my dads lawn mower that quit running. He was pretty happy about that.
-
Looks like the "kid" caught lunch!
Everyone, this is Memorial Day to remember our fallen comrades and protectors who paid the ultimate price - Freedom isn't free, it's bought and paid for with blood, sacrifice, and the lives of men and women! Some of us were lucky enough to not be "in country" or any hot zone, some can't, or won't talk about where they were or what they did, and many are still serving! Remember them and thank a vet!
Hawkdancer
-
Also, I hope to make at least the "northern" part of the circuit next year! See you there!
Hawkdancer
-
Yup Ryan. We made lemonade from our lemons. It turned out to be very refreshing.
Looks like you did all right to. Nice perch. If you and the “kid” want to wet your line on the big lake or from our beach, your both welcome. The big lake has been calm this weekend and lot’s of people enjoying it.
Yes Jerry. That’s what is really important about this weekend.
Last year on the way home from Marshall we came to a road block. People were turning around and going around town. A elderly veteran came up to us and apologized for the delay. He said they were supposed to set up the detour a mile back so we could just drive around town.
I told him no need to apologize. That’s what this weekend was really for. We were right next to the cemetery. He said it wouldn’t be long. Just a small parade. I couple of fire trucks and some vets. Told him we were honored to have such a good spot to watch the parade. He thanked us and continued down the line of vehicles behind us. I’d like to think he got the same response from all those people to. Somehow I kinda doubt it though.
Thanks to all those fallen soldiers and their families. I know it’s not enough, but it’s sincere and really all they ever asked. Bless them all
Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Thank you all for sharing your weekend with us as best we could
I really appreciate you taking time to post it means a lot to me
I wish I could do pictures on here for you but about the time I get them figured out something changes and they don't work again ugh!
Take care and have fun

We couldn't light a fire either. We were up to the cabin and a small wildfire was just out the day before. It took out about 100 acres east of us 8-10 miles. I did have a few whiskeys as I sat in my wooden chair Guy gave me years ago. I love that chair Guy.
-
Got that same problem with pictures, Guy! Have to get some kid to show me how to do it!
