Title: 2020 Christmas Trade
Post by: Trapper Rob on August 04, 2020, 03:42:32 pm
Who wants in the Christmas Trade this year?
The only rules are what you send out can be stuff you gathered or something you made.
When you put down you want in also put your draw length & draw weight a long with right or left handed sometimes people make a bow to send out.
I'll draw names 1st week in September.
People can start shipping Dec 1st & everyone should be shipped by Dec 19th.
Make sure you PM me your address if you want in.

Is it appropriate to ask your person for ideas on what might be appreciated or needed?  I am happy to shoot in the dark, and would hate to not be able to provide something wanted but if I can do my best providing something someone might use in the field I'd get a kick out of that too.....Paul

Very likely something with wood!  Those new saws have to earn their keep!  Also, the exotic wood bin keeps calling! (lol). Now, to figure out what to make!

Title: Re: 2020 Christmas Trade
Post by: Hawkdancer on November 14, 2020, 01:02:48 pm
Trapper,
I have had good luck with 15# honey, 5 gallons spring water, and a prix de mousse yeast.  I think it is Lalvin 1178.  Dissolve the honey in hot water, cool the must to about 80f, pitch the yeast, seal it in a fermenter with an air lock, and let the yeast work until the must stops bubbling.  Btw, I use cheap vodka to seal the airlock (lol)!  Make sure everything is sanitized, bottle and it gets better with age!

I've made it 3 or 4 times now...good stuff and easy. Stops at about 12% w some residual sweetness. Great sitting around a fire.  Paul

Pretty positive I won't make the 19th...but I am trying to find some time to finish up.  My "new" 100yr old house is killing me and my in-laws are coming in a couple of days.  Can I have a couple extra days?  Paul

Covid keeps rearing its ugly head here at work and taking my coworkers off line thereby changing my schedule. Work is the only place I get to work on projects... so, I am behind. I am working on it. My first project cracked and for its intended purpose is unuseable except as fire wood... Got to start over. SIGH!

I'm glad it got to.  Sorry it took me so long.  The scrappers should have a decent edge on them. I'm not the best at putting a bur on them but they work really well.  I make them out of banding material that I get from work.  If you need any advice on the stave just drop me a message.

Hip, Hip Hooray my package is on its way! PO slip says it should arrive by Tuesday....

As Covid numbers continue to rise in my county and job site I am never sure what tomorrow will bring. My supervisors husband tested positive. My coworkers housemate had a guest that was positive. So many areas of our workforce are getting exposed. I do my best to keep myself and my wife safe since I am the one going to work. She is home most of the time. Our Governor has issued an amendment to his stay at home order recommending that we do not travel more than 120 miles from our homes. At Yosemite we are still getting folks from across the US. Not as many as a "normal" year for sure.

Y'all stay safe out in this crazy world.
