Who wants in the Christmas Trade this year?
The only rules are what you send out can be stuff you gathered or something you made.
When you put down you want in also put your draw length & draw weight a long with right or left handed sometimes people make a bow to send out.
I'll draw names 1st week in September.
People can start shipping Dec 1st & everyone should be shipped by Dec 19th.
Make sure you PM me your address if you want in.
-

-
Thanks for keeping this going Rob!
-
Is it appropriate to ask your person for ideas on what might be appreciated or needed? I am happy to shoot in the dark, and would hate to not be able to provide something wanted but if I can do my best providing something someone might use in the field I'd get a kick out of that too.....Paul
-
Paul if you can just look around & see what you can find out about the person if you can't find anything out send me a PM & I'll try to find some things out for you .
-
If anyone didn't get a name & address send me a PM & I'll get it to you
-
Has anyone started working on anything yet
-
Still in the thought process.
-
I'm with Pat!
Hawkdancer
-
Anyone get started on anything yet ?
I'm still trying to figure out what to make.
-
Had what might be a good idea today....have to tinker a bit and see if it'll go. P
-
Still mulling it around. :-\
-
Well, my mulling around is over and I've started my Christmas Trade project...

-
Pat that looks nice
-
I'm thinking about making something in the forge maybe a knife
-
Very likely something with wood! Those new saws have to earn their keep! Also, the exotic wood bin keeps calling! (lol). Now, to figure out what to make!
Hawkdancer
-
My basic project is finished but who knows what will attach itself to that before shipping day. :OK
-
Anyone been working on anything
-
My project is 2/3rds done but I'm also having second thoughts...a wood worked i know talks about "being good is about not making mistakes. And knowing how to hide the mistakes..."
I'll see how my hiding works...P
-
Paul the guy that showed me how to build muzzle loaders told me the same thing
-
Even though my project is done I'm still trying to figure out how to improve it.
-
Pat I have some of the stuff you make you do very nice work
-
Thanks Rob. I love the Christmas Trade and always try to go over and above for my recipient. It's all about the giving. :OK
-
What's everyone been working on.
I know one thing I'll be sending out with what I'm making will be a bottle of honey from my honey bees.

[/Oh! Wow! I need 15# to make a batch of mead! >:D. Figured out what I am going to make, but the "do list"is still in the way
Hawkdancer
-
Jerry I've been thinking about making some mead also.
-
Trapper,
I have had good luck with 15# honey, 5 gallons spring water, and a prix de mousse yeast. I think it is Lalvin 1178. Dissolve the honey in hot water, cool the must to about 80f, pitch the yeast, seal it in a fermenter with an air lock, and let the yeast work until the must stops bubbling. Btw, I use cheap vodka to seal the airlock (lol)! Make sure everything is sanitized, bottle and it gets better with age!
Hawkdancer
-
Double checked the yeast, it is 1118

Speaking of mead, make some Joe's Ancient Orange Mead. Stuff is awesome on a cold night, uses bread yeast. Really nice stuff. Paul
-
Thanks Jerry
Paul do you make the orange mead?
-
I've made it 3 or 4 times now...good stuff and easy. Stops at about 12% w some residual sweetness. Great sitting around a fire. Paul
-
Paul,
What's the recipe?

Great for a first timer....P
-
Thanks Paul I'll have to make a batch.
-
What's everyone been working on?
Got some pieces of wax out of the beehive on Friday I think I'll throw that in also
-
If I don't get my Trade pkg sent off soon it will be too heavy to mail. I keep adding stuff. ;D :OK
-
OK guys, let's hear what you are doing for the Christmas Trade this year. We are beyond the early shipping date.
-
I'm going to throw some more stuff together this weekend & hopefully ship by the end of next week
-
I'll be sending a 20 yrs old osage stave. 55" long. And probably a board of padauk for a board board. It will ship out on the 18th.
-
you know me - always running late. Since my museum is closed and I am in the info station more often than not I am a lil behind. I'll gitter done though!
-
Got the bow rack ready to put sealer finish on. Trying to figure out what to put in the box with it, stocking stuffer type stuff!
Hawkdancer
-
I've just got some finishing up to do, then get over to the post office. So should be shipping this weekend or early next week. No spoilers from me though :D
-
This is going to be a very busy shipping season so the sooner the better unless you wait until after Christmas.
-
Pretty positive I won't make the 19th...but I am trying to find some time to finish up. My "new" 100yr old house is killing me and my in-laws are coming in a couple of days. Can I have a couple extra days? Paul
-
Paul, just keep us informed about your progress. Good luck with your 100 year old house and your in laws.
-
Sent mine off yesterday afternoon, and just realized I didn't put a note in with it! It's pretty self explanatory, but still. So if you receive something in a week or 2 from an unknown person it was probably me :D
-
Paul it's not a problem.
I know what you mean about a old house the house I have is at least 150 years old.
-
So no way I will be shipping by tomorrow...75% chance I can ship by x-mas...I can definitely ship by News Years.
Yall tell me if I should shoot for shipping by new year or try again next year...
Paul
-
Got the same dilemma - but maybe priority mail will get there, if you ship Monday, which is my new target date! The PO here closes very early on Saturday! Also need to find some more stocking stuffers!
Hawkdancer
-
Such a deal! I shipped today, ETA is 24 December. Also got a package from Pat B!
Hawkdancer
-
Glad it got there, Jerry. :OK
-
I failed to get my gift out on time. I've been working every day till late. I'll get it out monday. I apologize for not getting out in time.
-
Got mine shipped
-
I will be able to ship middle of next week....P
-
Opening a new "received " thread!
Hawkdancer
-
My project is complete and will go out in tomorrow's mail. Paul
-
USPS says it'll arrive by Monday. Paul
-
Got mine out today. not sure when it'll be to its new home though.
-
Covid keeps rearing its ugly head here at work and taking my coworkers off line thereby changing my schedule. Work is the only place I get to work on projects... so, I am behind. I am working on it. My first project cracked and for its intended purpose is unuseable except as fire wood... Got to start over. SIGH!
-
Just continue to keep us posted, Ben.
Stay safe and healthy. :OK
-
Ben I know where your coming from
-
My gift should be to it's new home Thursday the 7th
-
So an osage blank just arrived! It will be my first so I will need a lot of help with it :-) I will get some pics up later this evening. And thanks to someone??? I didn't see a note. But thanks just the same! It'll be a challenge for sure but I am excited to finally get my hands on some; I'm too cheap to buy my own!
Thanks all. Paul

I'm glad it got to. Sorry it took me so long. The scrappers should have a decent edge on them. I'm not the best at putting a bur on them but they work really well. I make them out of banding material that I get from work. If you need any advice on the stave just drop me a message.
-
Almost there! Going to my job site workshop in a few to put a finish on it.
-
Hip, Hip Hooray my package is on its way! PO slip says it should arrive by Tuesday....
As Covid numbers continue to rise in my county and job site I am never sure what tomorrow will bring. My supervisors husband tested positive. My coworkers housemate had a guest that was positive. So many areas of our workforce are getting exposed. I do my best to keep myself and my wife safe since I am the one going to work. She is home most of the time. Our Governor has issued an amendment to his stay at home order recommending that we do not travel more than 120 miles from our homes. At Yosemite we are still getting folks from across the US. Not as many as a "normal" year for sure.
Y'all stay safe out in this crazy world.

Wasn't bubonic plague found out west a while back? That would be the icing on the cake :( :(
