Taking a break from making bows for awhile and started working on other things. My wife's cousin is retiring this year and decided she would like to get back into music. She wanted to know if I would make her a Harp so I made her this little 19 string lap Harp. It's roughly patterned on a kit my wife assembled in university while studying for her degree on early music, the Harp kind of falls into that. The one she built in U doesn't have much sound, the soundbox is a bit boxy and too small. The Neck and pillar is similar but I fixed the soundbox on the ones I have been making and this Harp in particular is punky and loud. My wife did a bit of decorative wood burning on the joint of the pillar and neck, which I think turned out great. The Harp is Ash with a Spruce soundboard

Sweet Marc. I bet it sounds sweet to.
I’m pretty sure the more of them you finish, the better they will turn out.

Real nice! That should a lot of fun to play! I need to got my tender body back to playing, and get a "traveling size" harp, too! As soon as I get the shop more organized, and we get the master bedroom finished and furnished! I like the one string, one note style of a harp!

Thanks guys. She was quite happy when she got it. I kind of stopped making them for awhile but there are a few people that have expressed an interest.

Very nice, Marc.

Wow, what a beauty. As a musician myself, I've long been struck by the beauty of a well-crafted wood instrument, and the similar feeling I get from a beautifully made bow. That connection is one of the things that got me into primitive archery in the first place. Well done!

These small harps are easier to make than the big ones. My wife and I are collaborating on one just like it out of Maple. She likes Maple, I find it a bit bland

Beautiful work Marc, I know she will love that. :)

Thanks all. These are more of an assembly of pre-designed parts in accordance to a plan.
