Title: Has anyone ever made a barrel from scratch?

Has anyone on here forged it from stock, and how would you go about it?

This is an involved process, people who have forged their own barrel are few and far between.

Here is a video on the process, I didn't watch it but have seen several in the past and the start looks correct.

One of the Fireside books has a good step by step description of this with pictures.

I have watched guys in Mass bore then rifle by hand. Very interesting. The boring looked to be the important part, getting it as straight as possible. Think they got blanks from Penn.

Shawn
