The birds knock down hundreds of Mountain Ash berries and the neighbourhood herd cleans them up. This is Mama and her two boys from this year. This is the best they would line up. The herd is about seven strong. We rarely see bucks. I could see bumps on the boys heads.

DC, is that a mountain ash(Roan) and the deer are eating the fallen berries?

I used to think cohabitation with wildlife was realy neat. But after they much on everything I try to grow and leave the yard trampled and smelling like a feed lot...let's just say the honeymoon is over.
Oh, and watching mama deer eat the placenta of her recent born is the most disgusting thing I've ever witnessed in my life. The lack of a top set of chompers makes it a challenge for mama and drags the whole process out. There's a smell, too :o :-[
