Title: Diamondback backed yew recurve
Post by: High-Desert on May 24, 2021, 04:50:50 pm
I built this bow awhile back and did a build along for it. I have the bow away and never got full draw pictures of it until a few days ago when my friend brought it over for so I could get a full draw picture.
It’s 62” long, yew with diamond back rattlesnake, and African Blackwood tips. I got the idea for the tips from the friend whom I have the bow. Those tips were tedious to do and get to look symmetrical.
It draws 51 Lbs @27”. The grip is mahogany leather dye with the tennis racquet grip.
Not sure why I can’t get the photos to look normal. Never had this problem with having to compress them where they blurry

Looks great all the way around.  The design of your curves looks tight.  Beautiful bow.

I've seen a bow that had been covered by taking the skin off two water moccasins without cutting down the belly, just peeled right off, and slid down over the stave joining in the center under the grip wrapping. I think this was in a old copy of PA.
Done that way it would seal the wood and lams or sinew backing away from moisture.

Not nearly as pretty as this diamond back though.
