Title: Trail cam pics
Post by: Pat B on July 20, 2021, 04:17:56 pm
I didn't see another place for these trail cam pics so I figured I'd start one. Please add yours if you've got them.

I put this salt lick in about 25 years ago on a major travel route through our 25 acres. Never know who'll show up.

Here is Flossy about to pop...

...and Momma and the kids. Momma is in the top left...

Deer love black cherries, I have a huge tree near my garden that hasn't had a crop in three years, this year it was loaded. When the tree has a good crop I set my camera up to watch the deer that come to feed, I will get 100+ pictures a night, most are duplicates of the same does but I did have a bachelor group of bucks show up one night. I will never seen these guys in the daylight, subdivision deer are mostly nocturnal.

That's a pot belly doe Pat.

Eric, that buck looks like it's going to be wide.

I checked my camera today.  It's been a while.

The pose of the buck reminded me of two amusing incidents.
A family friend had a cast iron statue of a buck in just that pose in his yard a fair distance from his house. One evening a nimrod in a truck stopped short and jumped out with his trusty deer gun and blazed away at it. When the deer didn't go down said nimrod realized his error.

On another occasion my neighbor had trimmed some trees and being of an artistic bent used some logs and limbs to create a neat wooden deer. My old Plot was mystified by it and would go over and sit in front of it staring at it for hours.

Not much wild life here recently but years ago the cops busted a smuggling ring who as a sideline smuggled rare animals. When the cops came in all the exotic animals were ejected out the back windows.
For months weird looking jungle fowl haunted my back yard. One day I pried open an old storm damaged steel shed and found a huge nest at least six feet across containing scores of eggs.
Three fine looking fighting birds also took up residence for awhile, two fighting cocks and a hen. Beautiful birds they were and left to themselves very peaceful.
Something huge and round that grunted like a hog spent several nights high up in one of my walnut trees. Never found out what it was.

My brother has been trail caming for a year and a half,  it was really neat when we found some porcupine dens :).  I need to see If I can get ahold of some of the shots.

@OO, Was that vehicle supposed to be there?  We've caught many trespassers on our cams.
Those bird shots are spectacular, how does the camera do there?  We stay away from open areas because we get to many false triggers.

That's me and my family in the truck.  That camera does great there.  I've had it on the same tree for years.

If you are referring to the black wire square in front, it's a spider web catcher.  Spiders like to build webs across our trails.

Clint, can you tell what the 2 red tails were after?

Pat, if I had to guess, I'd say the male was after the female.

Something I made myself.  I hate getting a spider web in the face.

I need some new cameras.

My first question was. What’s Clint got on the front of his buggy? Thought it was to light for a brush guard.

Here are a few from my trail camera. I never see the larger buck until Mid July. Next month I have a bear or two who show up on the cameras. I have had a bunch of red fox this year on the cameras but no coyotes so far. Checking the cameras has become a bit of a hobby for me.

My favorite picture I ever got was one of a hawk flying in towards the camera. I will see if I can find it.

Osage Outlaw,
I promised my grandson if we see him during hunting season, the buck was his. He is 17 and just starting out on his hunting journey.

I pulled the cards out of 2 cameras yesterday. They are basically along the same trail but about 100 yards apart. First is at the salt lick...
