This was a super nice stave from dark osage, very dense wood. Nearly flawless, only some marginal pin knots. Bad thing was it was very crooked and twisted, so it needed some time and several sessions to bring it line and balance. At handle section an additionally ring allows a nicer curve and more comfort to grip.
She has string grooves for safety (prevent string slipping).
Tip overlays and arrow pass is a combo from buffalo horn and bone. Handle is stingray leather.

Your work is always amazing!

Another beauty. Very, very nice.

Mary Poppins bow right there...practically perfect in every way.
Your stingray handle is capturing my attention. Is the seam of its wrap on the belly and what are you using as an adhesive?
-
What can I say! :OK
-
As close to perfect as it gets!
-
wow (-S love that bow!

Can you guy's see the pictures :fp

That bow is really amazing. Beautiful profile and bend. I really like the shape of your fades with the center ridge line on the belly. Does that extend much beyond the fades? Thanks for posting your work here!

Steve, the seem is on the belly ridge. It is glued on with TB 3 after soaking severeal hours (this leather is very tough!), wrapped with textile rubber strap. It was glued on with excess, before the glue was completely dry cut with a very sharp knife trough both leather overlapping, add some more glue at the seem area and wrap again. The result is a very good seem, near invisible.
PS: I have sanded a bit over the whole black leather to get the bone pearls a bit highlighted.

Beautiful bow ;)

I really like the fadeouts. In a dead spot you can do whatever you want but this is a really good idea of design

Sorry, I forgot to answer ...
On this bow the center ridge fades out with the fades.
I also have made lot of bows with ridges over the entire limbs.
-
Thanks Stimson. Id like to try that on a future bow. Thats a real beauty!

Right click on the tiny icon in the upper left hand corner and choose open image in separate tab.

What did you use for coating? looks already so dark - danish oil?
-
This was one of several staves of very dark osage staves, as mentioned above (natural color).
My finish is a home brewed hardening oil, made out of linsed oil, carnauba wax, orange oil and some other ingredients. I make 8 coatings with 1 day drying inbetween on all of my bows.

A most impressive bow! You do excellent work, and I hope it inspires rather than intimidates others to follow your examples!

I do hope that my work is inspiring to others. In no way do I want to intimidate anyone, I don't think there is anyone here (at least I hope not) who intends to do so.

Simon, your work is impeccable. Another beautiful bow.

Simson thats a beauty! I like the recurves. Ive got one that I need to flatten the hooks on a bit. Can I copy that part?😁the rest I could not copy anyway.😁Arvin

Simson do you find any real advantage of the ridge vs. a rounded belly? Arvin

Simson do you find any real advantage of the ridge vs. a rounded belly? Arvin
Arvin, I have seen such edges but also furrows on several historic bows. I think they were very special bows, for example, ritual bows or perhaps bows for outstanding personalities.
I cannot see any particular advantage over rounded cross-sections (except perhaps marginal mass savings). It is just more or less an aesthetic touch. I'm sure not every bowwood is suitable for that, but with osage we can do everything ...

Ok reduction in mass could make a difference. Ill have to try one. The bow is a beauty by the way .
