Title: Target Points
Post by: Buckskinner on July 02, 2022, 12:48:21 pm
Worked on a few different target tips today to replace the blunts (far left) that I made a while back out of 38 casings, while they worked great, they are hard on targets.

Copied a few different ideas I found on this site and made one up.

Far right - 3/8" copper tubing crimped and cut to dull point then filled with shot to get it to 125 gr and melted, glued on with pitch glue

Middle right - Cut 204 casing with ring-shank nail soldered in and topped to 125 gr with shot.

I like both of these but fairly time consuming, so remembered I had some old steel core 223 ammo, so middle left is that topped with shot, very easy and quick to make.

They aren't pretty or primitive but fly well and much easier on target.   I suppose I could just buy some glue-on's but I like making things.

I like to see reused things - been there too. Now, when I want a point made by myself I sit down and knap :KN
Nice work!

I'm slowly learning that knapping thing, so far I'm much better at napping.
