Who's interested in doing a arrow trade?
-
I'm in. :OK
-
I'm in!
-
Come on, guys. Lets get this arrow trade going. You gotta make some arrows anyway so just make 1 more and join in. :OK
-
I guess I’m in. I know things are going get crazy around here but I will get arrow done and sent somehow.
Thanks for jumping right in Pat.
I’ve been sitting on the fence but I didn’t want to bite off more than I can chew.
Bjrogg
-
and we don't want you to, Brian. Do what you can and if it doesn't work out, so be it. :OK
-
What time frame would you guys feel good about to build and ship a arrow
-
I'm in for anything. Whatever works best for all.
-
Pat I feel the same way I know everyone has a lot going on.
-
I’m in but in all honesty I could very well be late. Whenever the mailing date is. I will eventually get my arrow sent out though and I might not even be late. I just want everyone to know that up front.
I can see being busy till Thanksgiving and I don’t want everyone to wait til then.
If I get your name please understand. You might have to wait, but you will get a nice arrow.
Bjrogg
PS I still feel like I need to send another one to Jake as his got broken in mail last year. I haven’t forgot that
-
Brian we all know how it is farming if you're late I'm sure everyone will understand
-
Thanks Rob. I guess one thing I’m trying to say is don’t try to make it work for me. I will try to make whatever deadline you come up with work.
Bjrogg
-
I’m in
-
Count me in rob!
-
Jake I was wondering where you were
I'll leave this go till the first of the week.
-
We have 379 views and only 6 signed up. Pretty pathetic. >:(
-
Well a lot of those are guest views. I would sign up but I have a bow to make, PITH to do, and make arrows for myself before season starts. Just not enough time in the day
-
...and I quote..."Come on, guys. Lets get this arrow trade going. You gotta make some arrows anyway so just make 1 more and join in." ;D
-
Touché Pat but I'm still out lol
-
I’m in. Why not
-
I'm going to do some knappin this weekend for the PITH so I'm going to get the point made for my arrow also
-
I'm in. Got all the raw materials in the shop. Looks like fun.

BJ Tower makes some nice arrow's

I'm a little new to the whole shoot shaft thing but got a seasoned viburnum shaft worked down.(harvested in 2020) Straightened a few days ago and seems to have held the corrections well. Spine looks good as well. Knapped out 3 points and will be using the best one for this arrow. practiced my stain materials on a practice shaft, showed to the wife and she made some suggestions. I'll take some of her input, but may go rouge. The voices in my head gave me a good idea and I might have to run with it :o. Anyhow, hope to cut in self nock tonight and wrap to take a bare shaft shot or 2 before I continue. Hate to give an estimate on completion but its coming along.
Mike
-
Just an FYI here...any package over 30" will have a $15 surcharge added to the normal shipping cost with USPS. IMO, they are still the best shipping option. I send most things I ship USPS Priority Mail. Shorter delivery time with fewer folks handling the package.
-
Anyone got anything started yet
-
I started working on a sourwood shoot today. Still got a little straightening to do. Thinking of point options and fletching options.
-
Been working on mine at every opertunity. Spent friday evening cutting in the knock. Hope to fit the point tonight. Stain , fletch, and finish up I hope before the weekend. Was going to try, for the first time a 2 fletch but going to stick with the style I been doing for my own arrows lately.
Mike
-
Just finished mine up yesterday.. now I need to pack it up & ship it off
-
Mounted the point last night and really thought I could finish it up, but I'm too slow. Cut the feathers to length but not to shape yet. Ran out of steam but was a good opertunity to let some sinew binding dry overnight. Just going to take my time and hope to have things complete by the weekend. I'll send you a Pm when its done Rob so I can get your mailing info.
Mike
-
Mike take your time I know everyone has a lot going on. If you can post pictures of the arrow that would be great I can't figure out how to post pics on here.
-
Got mine packed up ready for shipping. Didn't think of pics til it was packed. Might go out tomorrow or else early next week. :OK
-
no pics? :'(
(-P (-P (-P (-P
-
Everyone can do pics on the receiving end. :OK
-
Just a couple sinew wraps, seal them up and done. So now for the silly question, I never sent an arrow in the mail. Was figuring a pvc pipe and cut some packing material to prevent it from moving around. Or is there a more simple solution? Had some close calls with sending bows via UPS in the past(amazing that they could break a schedule 40 threaded plug).
I'll make sure I get a few pics before I send it out Rob. Below is the backup shaft and point. Practiced a bit with the shaft and stain to see what might look good, one im sending out has a different pattern :)

Ill make sure to do a good photo shoot Pat.
Thx,Mike
-
I need to get my points notched then I can get my arrow put together
-
I got my package sent out today. Expected delivery date is Monday. :OK
Mike, please let me know when it gets there.
-
Looking forward to it Pat. Think the wife will be around the house on Monday, so she'll give me a heads up, May have to bug out a bit early from work if it shows up :)
Mike
-
Got it narrowed down to 2 shafts, I think! Probably a trade point, single bevel, 2 fletch.
Hawkdancer
-
I have Pat B’s arrow done but I have been way to busy with work and funerals to get it packed up and sent out.
Hopefully I can catch my breath here now. I sure hope I’m done with funerals for awhile
I’m hoping to get some pictures before I box it up.
I’m not forgetting about it Pat.
Bjrogg
-
No problem, Brian. At your convenience. :OK
Also, sorry for your losses. You've had a difficult and busy summer.
-
Got a package from Pat B yesterday. Enclosed were 2 sourwood shoot shaft arrows. One with a stone point with turkey wing fletchings and the other the shaft was sharpened, fire hardened with goose fletchings. Both are in the 2 fletch style with self nocks. I've seen lots of pictures of the 2 fletch style but never any in person before. Very cool. Eastern woodland is some of my favorite type of style so these 2 examples are super.
Hope my pictures do them justice. Thanks so much Pat!

The wife told me I got a package in the mail today from M2A.
I'll open it when I get home.

Thats good news Rob. I always hate that limbo between sending something and the time it gets there.
Here are some pics of the arrow I sent to Rob.

Point is a Madison style from Nethers' Flint ridge I dug last year. Overall I was pretty happy with how that turned out. Pretty much the best I can do. Viburnum shaft and just had some fun with the fletchings and barberry/walnut stains. I had not been happy with my sinew wraps that I had been putting on my own arrows so I slowed down for this one and tried to keep it as neat as I could. Funny how much better things can be when you take your time. Anyways, hope you like it Rob.

-
Got my trade arrow in! It looks awesome. Nice 2 fletch with a field point. Also came with another shaft, feathers, and a trade point to make me another. Hopefully hawkdancer will chime in to let us know what the other shaft is. Thanks it's awesome!
-
I should of checked my messages before posting...
The arrow shaft is bamboo spine 45149#, turkey fletching, sinew wrapping on the tip, screw in point secured with glue. Also included a red osier dogwood shaft, a trade point, and a couple feathers for a project arrow. Btw, the shaft needs some straightening! (lol)The trade point is saw metal, and based on the arrows used in "Dances with Wolves".
-
I sent Jerry a message I'll put his arrow in the mail Monday
-
Mine is ready. Just need an address to ship it too
-
Hawkdancer should've gotten his arrow I hope it made it ok
-
Got it yesterday! Nice. We were the last to ship? Procrastination and circumstance! (lol) :fp

No I still haven’t got mine yet. I’m guessing my arrow maker might be away.
I believe he posted that he had it finished quite awhile ago but I haven’t received it yet.
I’m still not worried.
Bjrogg

Brian I'll check into it

Sent a message to tower about shipping his arrow to him. No response. If the person he sent an arrow to can send me his address I can get it out this week

I got home last night from digging sugar beets to find a well wrapped package on my kitchen table.
Have to admit my first thought was I hope it’s ok because the package had a big dent in it and the end cap was broken.
Inside I found another tube though and inside that tube a beautiful stone point arrow from Tower.
Thanks Tower. This will look very nice in my collection.
Beautiful work and that point is unbelievable thin.
Was definitely worth the wait and I wasn’t worried.
Bjrogg
-
Very nice arrow. All it needs now is to be sticking through the ribcage of that big 10pt out there. :OK
-
Brian tower makes nice arrows and he does get his points thin
