Title: Are these flint knapping tools
Post by: Don W on August 06, 2022, 10:10:17 am
I found these is a bucket of old tools. A few folks on facebook thought they might be for flint knapping. Any thought?

At first i thought they were copper tubing but they are actually made from brass rod.

First thought is hoof picks, but I really don't know.  Not sure how you would use those for flint.  Also, I understand flintknapping is something of a rediscovered art, those look like they're from a time it was rare (still is, come to think of it  :)).

My guess would be soldering irons used with a forge. My grandpa had several of various sizes.
His were similar to those
