By Forrest Shattuck of Golden Wood Bows
A longbow… deflex reflex… near center shot. This Osage billet bow is 58” nock to nock, and pulls 48# at 28”. The natural deflex in the returns along with the sinew backing allows for the long draw on a short bow, without losing it reflex. I accidentally left it strung for 16 hours, and it lost very little reflex. The tips are Sambar stag, the grip beaver tail distressed and re-stained. This is the eighth bow of this style I have crafted. The deflex in the returns, and the natural site window is accomplished by splicing belly billets which have the necessary characteristics. Some of the reflex is natural, and some I applied with a heat gun. I have series of videos on YouTube under Golden Wood Bows titled Crafting Optimal 6.

That´s a savage bow!
I like every detail on it and imagine how smooth it is.
Has to be a nice one to look for a deer.

I like that design
I like that stain on the back
Tiller, not easy to judge on that wonky stave, so just call it perfect :)
cheers

Nice bow with some good character. I also like the stain on the back. I'm assuming you gave the the sinew a distressed look?

Thanks for the comments. I would thank you individually, but I haven’t mastered this site. I’m not sure where, what I’m typing will end up haha.

The limbs are backed with White Tail deer sinew, lightly splattered with brown aniline dye… that's it
