Title: Another with the winged elm
Post by: BowEd on December 06, 2022, 01:58:08 pm
My friend Chad got himself in the way of some deer movement in the big woods in Missouri.Four does came over top from a hill and came by him sitting at the base of water oak. This one came within 15 yards.Put an arrow through the lungs and heart. She went 43 yards he says. That's at least 3 deer I know of he's gotten with this bow.
Missouris' law requires him to wear orange during rifle season.

Getting selfbow close in gun season isn't easy.  At least around here it isn't.   Congratulations to the hunter and bowyer.

Around here during shotgun season the bow season is shut down completely. Some Amish and some english too still  manage to shoot each other every once in a while even wearing orange. The automatic shotgun they think gives them an edge.
One thing it does for me is congregate the deer onto my small hunting area.
It's a long season, and bow season will open back up after this shotgun season here again.
Old Chad's got a pile of hides to tan now.His whole family hunts.
