Title: The extreme of the addiction
Post by: Papa Matt on July 18, 2008, 09:33:40 am
Ok all you hardcore brothers, especially those who are married...Come clean and don't be afraid! Time to measure your addiction....

WHO AMONG US HAS EVER SLEPT WITH THEIR BOW IN HAND, OR EVEN LAID IT UP ON THE BED BESIDE THEM?

Come on now!  I KNOW I AIN'T THE ONLY ONE!! :D

Maybe you finished one real late at night and had to get some sleep but at the same time, just loved it too much to put it down...

Not at all uncommon for me to doze off at night pondering a selfbow project or some aspect of bow design, etc..  I don't need the phsyical article to do it though.

Not in bed... but I've set a new bow in the corner of the bedroom, and stared at it until I fell asleep. Yes... my wife thinks I'm nuts.

Attaboy ADB!   My wife does her best to understand and actually shares a small part of the addiction, but at times becomes jealous of the time I spend on projects or shooting. I always make her think twice though, and say "Look if you think I only need to make 5 arrows today instead of 10, that's fine, I'll only make 5. But when that 6th grizzly bear pops out of the woods and takes to gnawing on your head  :o, don't look at me cause we only needed 5 arrows, not 10"  :D >:D  But then she always counters my threat by reminding me that we live in south-eastern Indiana and there aren't even any black bear, much less grizzliy.

Yep....dozed off once with bow in hand.  Wife woke me up and asked, "You fell asleep holding your bow?" ???

Must be the military training....spent several nights in the field with rifle in hand....or at least that's what I tell myself. ;D

As I'm building a bow, if its dry enough in the house.  I bring it in to our bedroom every night after I'm done working on it.  It beats what I used to do.  When I was racing bikes, whenever I would get a new bike I would sleep in the bed with it for first night after I got it.  My wife put an end to that ritual. ;D

Haven't got to the point yet where I need to sleep with any of my bows.  However, does getting up in the middle of the night to check on them count? :)  "Not really"  ;)

thats the epitomy of my obsession. ive also drifted off to sleep thinking about a bow project.

ive never slept with a bow, but i have fallen asleep running my hand over a bundle of unfinished arrow shafts that was leaning between my bed and my gun cabinet...
