Title: Got some stone for a buddy
Post by: snedeker on July 20, 2008, 06:45:02 pm
I made a nice haul yesterday from an old knapper in my area in central PA.  I was asked by an archaeologist in Delaware if I could come up with some knapable stuff so he could do some experiments and write a paper.   Local dude gave a bunch of what he says are primo pieces, each about the size of a double slice of sciliian pizza of a) flint ridge flint, onandoga, cherry hill (ne New YorK)  called osopis?   Bald Eagle jasper from central pa, vera cruz jasper from near Reading PA, and he threw in a big potato sized cobble  of what I think he called Pedernales from TX.   $25 for a box full about the size of a 12 pack box, and then he threw in some other stuff.   I don't know why I didn't take up knapping, being an archaeologist.  Let me know if pics would be of interest before shipping.
