hi all! - this 53" ntn rattan bow made for a 10 year old boy was technically finished in less then 2 hours including dry heat bending the recurves and making a new string!
it pulls 35' at my 29" (!!!) draw and throws my 620gn/75#-spine arrows with a surprisingly remarkable authority!
pulled to 29" it shows 2" of follow that you simply pull out backwards after unbracing till limbs are straight again.
thanks for looking!

Luca is one lucky kid Frank, thanks for posting the picture man I love seeing kids with bows :)

You made a sweet bow like that in 2 hours? You da man! 8)
-
Very, very nice. Great bow to give a child. Jawge
-
Thats very cool! ;D
-
well yes, to technically finish the bow did not take long at all! the finish work sure took way longer!!
heat-treating rattan is no problem at all; just a few minutes with the heatgun and it bends! i heated it some more when it was clamped down and worked on soon as i could touch it.
the recurves are ridgid, so they wont be pulled out!
in germany rattan (also called manau) is available from archery suppliers.
i had seen a guy with a similar bow with a cable backing, looked pretty much like an inuitbow. thatone had around 50# and he was happy with it!
thanks again, frank
-
haven't had a chance to take a picture of Luca in full draw, yet, but today i was sent a picture of another boy named Felipe pulling a similar bow i made for him a while back. he loves it and i'd say his bearing looks great at full draw; he pulls close to 30# here and he is not the biggest guy!

I'm impressed nice bow very nice bow.Ron

Wow Frank! Wham bam - presto ;D. That is one cool looking little bow - love the finish work :).
-
Very nice bow, good job. Boys need weapons! ;D
It looks like you made it with the nodes facing outwards, if you had the outside on the belly, it probably would have taken less set.
It's a good bow none the less!
