Title: A new BBI
Post by: knightd on August 31, 2008, 03:19:46 pm
Just finished this one the other day It is bamboo backed Ipe and its 62" ntn50#at29" 1 1/8" at fades to mid limb or so tips are 3/8".. and the handle is Osage,Purple hart and cocobolo limb tip over lays are Osage. Right after unstringing it it has 2" reflex after siting it goes to 2 1/2" of reflex shot it thru the crono at 10 grains per pound and drawing it to 29" it was a very respectful average of 179fps..

Good job Knighted, with fast flight string and a machine release you might pick up another 10 fps which would put you right up there with the high dollar modern bows. Steve

Thanks Badger.. This bow started out at 1 3/4" of reflex but I left the core thick when I glued it up so as I tillered it out It gained reflex.. I think I'm going to leave them thick more often. ;D. The guy at my local archery shop was impressed to say the least..When I get a chance I'm going to build him one and try and convert him from his fib@#$ass ways.. ;D

Thanks dano.. I need to really sit down and start concentrating on finding a blend of these designs to get one design that lends its self to all the aspects of what I'm looking for out of the Ipe. But it just seems like a daunting but fun challenge!!!
Maby I should take Badgers suggestion and get me a machine that would measure hand shock and have a mechanical release so I could compare all of these bows and compute what I need to know
NAA!! that would take all the fun out of it!!

David - Another beauty, 179 is wicked fast!  You're gonna be responsible for a ipe shortage the way you crank those bows out. ;D
