Title: New Rule Plus 1 (please read)
Post by: Marc St Louis on September 22, 2008, 09:16:39 am
Here is the 2 step process for breaking the message board rules.

1: You will be temporarily banned until such time as you have read and understand all of the rules.

2: If you continue with this behavior you will be permanently banned from this site.

Things seem to have gotten out of hand here with people cutting in on others threads or starting threads of their own, aggressively attacking members or those in charge.  This is disturbing to many and we have decided that it will stop.  Anyone doing this will be subject to the 2 step process.

4. It has recently come to our attention that some people seem to think it's just fine to have multiple accounts.  Unfortunately we disagree.  We didn't have any defined rule about this but we do now.

Multiple accounts are not allowed.  If you have multiple accounts then pick one and delete the rest.  If you don't and are found out then all will be banned permanently.  If you do have another account but don't use/remember it then please just advise a mod or an admin and we will try to sort it out

One of the things that I have always liked about the primitive archery forums I frequent is the friendly and supportive atmosphere. If it isn't like that I don't go there!

Even if we don't always agree about everything, here we do this for fun so why not disagree in a friendly way? The vast majority of people who are into primitive archery are decent folk and PA is a good example of that generous and basically respectfull approach. I hope PA stays that way.

Same here. I haven't been around much in a while. It's a shame some people have let go of the great atmosphere this board has always had.

I support this completely, Marc.

bear67, most of us here have already been to those sites, and it got old. If everybody plays by the rules this site will overload with archery knowledge. And all the Mod's are human , too, so, guy's and gal's help us out. Thanks for the kind words, Ahnlaashock.

Sounds like pretty reasonable rules pretty much

i havent noticed anything like that on this site. Thats one of the reason that I love coming here the most no one seems to attack anyone else. Just possitive feedback and helpfull comments. Lets keep it up, and these rules sound like a great way of keeping it that way. Cheers!

Marc,  I totally agree that this is a good rule.  One thing that has always bothered me is that when a person starts a thread on a topic, someone will start talking about something totally off topic, and suddenly everyone is replying to the new topic instead of the original.  If you do not have something relevant to say about the topic, start your own new topic.  Thanks.
Dan

Like Shooter, I must have missed something. I admit I spend most of my time in the Knapping section, but I do read a lot of the bow threads. I also have received nothing but good advice and have tried to share the same. I have learned a ton on PA and don't want it to change. If something was headed south, I'm glad you are taking the necessary steps to make it right.

I'm glad to hear so many people say they must have missed something. It means that everyone is being kind and that the occasional issue hasn't turned us into a bunch of arguing, whining old hens. I think it is funny that some people over the years have complained that we are too nice and should be more honest. Honest is their word not mine, I think of it as rude.

Just got back online after a year or so off. Guess I've missed a thing or two. I myself have been guilty a time or two of posting when the 'experts' have it under control. I'll definately keep a humbler attitude toward it. Btw hey all its good to be back.

y'all handle this issue a lot better than i would have.  a co-worker says i am not very diplomatic about things, if that tells you anything.  i am shade-tree bow-maker.  let me tell everyone here in this community,  i learn from bit and peices of knowledge found in this community.  i go to it everyday.  i would be none to happy if it closed down because of those that would violate this community's rules of decency and decorum.

"1: The thread or post is removed and you get a warning."

I think that moderaters should be warey against removing whole threads if the OP was not cause of the problem, as that would be highly unfair to the OP.

I'm new to bow building. This site has more information & in-site into bow building than the Encyclopedia Britannica. I've noticed some people are fairly opinionated. I chalk this up to our American heritage , a good thing. It makes us who we are . I don't mind offending people if I feel strong about what I believe in. With all that being said I'm here to learn . This is the best site on the web for primitive archery , & arts. I'm grateful for this. If I offend anyone take it with a grain of salt. I know there are almost as many ways to build a bow or Knapp a point as there are Bowyers & knappers.  Thank you & GOD bless this country!

How about locking down rule postings so they don't become polls on who likes the rule? Whole lot of "are you talkin to ME!" and "Yeah! Preach it bro! You da man!."

Just doesn't seem useful.

I rarely participate whith dialouge on the internet for this exact reason. I'm a guy that likes to get his imformation, do his thing, and pretty much keep to myself. I don't have time for arguments, and alpha male contests, I just wanna learn about bows. This is my first post here, but I wated to say I am impressed with this communities attitude regarding this type of behavior, and I look forward to a plesent, and benifcial experience on this forum.
Thanks for taking time to read the rules.

I don't talk alot on the posts, but I sure do read alot of them and learn. If it were not for you guys and girls out there, with more knowledge about bows, and being able to teach us novices, it would be a pretty sad world, keep up the good work, and lets learn together.

I have left other sites because of the negativity and bashing going on. I make no secret that i own a business where i make and sell archery equipment and that always seemed to draw the people that told me that theirs was better and I should throw in the towell because I will never be as good as they are! Haven't had that happen here. I'm here to help those just starting out and learn from those with new ideas and doing things the old way. I will happily trade but never sell on here unless I'm asked to. Everyone on here has been great so far and I love the input and help that I've received.

Well warpath, I am here to tell you that your bows are far better than mine and I might as well throw in the towel because I will never be as good as you are.   >:D

Post your bows, add your comments, pitch in doing the dishes when it's your turn and you will always be welcome here.  Nice to meetcha!

I put what I considered a public service message about the customer service of a certain Bow company out of Washington and it was removed.  I was not trying to do anything other than inform the public who view or post to be careful of purchasing products from them unless they are willing to wait till the zombies arrive or lose money in the event of cancellation.
That was all
...oh, I may have used one bad word
Well since you only registered today and your first post was to complain, it appears that the only reason you registered is to complain so no big surprise it was removed. We don't put up with shenanigans like that. We also don't put up with attacks or foul language not even when it is typed IN ALL CAPS.

After being around here for a bit you will get a feel for how it works. For the most part this site is dedicated to the craft of primitve articles, not so much vendor reviews. Maybe try to start again on the right foot with a post regarding a build, or a future build you have in mind in the 'Bows" section. Rubber bows is Rudder bows, most of us are aware of them good or bad. A majority of us collect or swap for any and all raw materials anywho.

Solo, I think Pearly stated the point well, concise and to the point. Welcome aboard.

Also what pearly said about raw materials lots of trading on here. If you ever need snake skins their's a weirdy on here that's know as snake man. Hit him up if ever the needs arrives.

Sounds good. Honestly though, I must have missed the threads where someone was being belligerent. I have enjoyed this community for the fact that I HAVEN'T seen ignoramuses with bad attitudes here.
It's the reason why I come here instead of Paleoplanet.
I joined Paleo 2 day ago and was told if i was not 50 years old to shut up.

Good idea. I host a forum for folding kayaks (folding kayak.org/phpBB) and we have one main rule: Be nice. Violators are warned and then defenestrated.

I, and many other people here, are deeply offended by your post, mje!  The only way to get back in our good graces is to post some photos of your folding kayaks (maybe even a build-along).   >:D
